What it’s like to be a Teaching Fellow: As a Teaching Fellow, you’ll work directly with students in expanded learning programs. Tutoring, guiding, and supporting young learners through hands-on activities while ensuring a safe, structured, and positive environment for every student in your classroom. The Opportunity: Monitor Student Learning in an After School Program Environment Monitor and mentor student learning activities daily. Develop lesson plans and establish clear objectives for each day. Submit lesson plans to Teaching Fellows, ensuring target standards are met. Provide individual and group tutoring. Prepare reports to track student progress and accomplishments. Enforce behavioral rules and procedures to maintain order. Observe and evaluate student performance and behavior. Ensure equipment and materials are used properly. Communication & Safety Foster good communication with fellow tutors, teachers, and with the California Teaching Fellows Foundation. Collaborate with other tutors on lesson planning and program goals. Ensure student safety and supervise all of their activities. Follow emergency procedures set forth by Teaching Fellows and/or school districts. Report any incidents promptly to the site lead, school administration, or local authorities. Perform Other Duties as Assigned Attend monthly staff meetings (Teaching Fellow Academies) once a month and training as scheduled Offer opinions and suggestions on program decisions. Adhere to any directives given by site lead, assistant site lead, or liaison. Proficiency in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and composition; ability to speak multiple languages is recognized as beneficial but not required. General understanding of educational standards and the public school system. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to undergo background checks and Tuberculosis exam.
