JOB SUMMARY: The Public Area Supervisor oversees the cleaning and maintenance of all public spaces within the hotel, ensuring a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. This role supervises housekeeping staff assigned to public areas and ensures compliance with hotel standards and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of public area attendants Inspect lobbies, restrooms, hallways, elevators, meeting rooms, pools and other shared spaces to ensure cleanliness standards are met Assign tasks and schedules to staff based on occupancy and operational needs Train new employees in cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and hotel standards Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies Monitor inventory levels and request replenishment as needed Respond promptly to guest requests or complaints related to public areas Coordinate with other departments (front desk, maintenance, security) to ensure smooth operations Report on maintenance issues and follow-up to ensure timely resolution Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent (hospitality certification is a plus) Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel environment Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Good communication and interpersonal abilities Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures WORK ENVIRONMENT Fast-paced hospitality setting Requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting Involves early mornings, evenings, and weekend shifts PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) Frequent bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds as needed Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor machines, and carts Manual dexterity to handle cleaning tools and supplies Ability to work in environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures Ability to respond quickly to guest and operational needs, including moving between multiple floors or areas Estate Yountville offers an attractive compensation and benefits package and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team.
