    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>At Mahaska Health, the <strong>Diagnostic Medical Sonographer</strong> provides patient care and technical skills in the operation of ultrasound diagnostic equipment for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>$10,000 Sign-on Bonus</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Hiring for: </strong><strong>Full-time & Part-time</strong></p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepares patient for ultrasound procedure by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education.</li>\n <li>Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.</li>\n <li>Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic information and images.</li>\n <li>Operates ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, reconstruction, and documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring quality images.</li>\n <li>Assists radiologists and qualified providers with special procedures (biopsies, aspiration, etc.).</li>\n <li>Follows protocols established by a radiologist for each ultrasound procedure.</li>\n <li>Prepares patient’s images for interpretation by radiologists.</li>\n <li>Confirms patient identification by two patient identifiers.</li>\n <li>As necessary, consult with a radiologist and/or other providers regarding procedures.</li>\n <li>Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies, and monitors outdated. </li>\n <li>Reports equipment failures to the appropriate staff member.</li>\n <li>Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.</li>\n <li>Ensures cleanliness of ultrasound equipment and room and maintains supplies for the ultrasound area.</li>\n <li>Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care. </li>\n <li>Delivers quality patient care with respect for patient rights, dignity, and age-specific needs. Complies with Safety and Infection Control Policy & Procedure.</li>\n <li>Checks for proper orders, lab results, signed informed consents, and patient preps for all ultrasound procedures.</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.</li>\n <li>Coordinates work schedule with scheduling desk to ensure workload coverage. </li>\n <li>Willingness to adapt to changes in workload, procedures, and schedule.</li>\n <li>Additional duties assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Requirements include but are not limited to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduate of an accredited radiologic health science program or School of Ultrasonography; and registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or be registry eligible.</li>\n <li>Prefer prior sonographer experience.</li>\n <li>Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association.</li>\n <li>Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at time of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.</li>\n <li>Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.</li>\n</ul>",
