Description Provides comprehensive psychological services to youths and families to include but is not limited to assessments, evaluations, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, etc., as well as consults with staff and the courts and assist them in decision making and disposition plan regarding the youth and family dynamics. Management Scope: Supervises interns. Responsibilities 1. Conduct individual, group, and family therapy services to youth supervised by the Dallas County Juvenile Department. 2. Complete psychological assessments, psychological screens, addendums, family assessments, and sex offender assessments as needed. The assessments will be submitted for supervision within 24 to 48 hours of completion. 3. Attend and participate in meetings with psychology staff that aid in the effective provision of clinical services to juvenile department youth and families. 4. Conduct on-call emergency services as indicated on the yearly schedule. 5. Provide on-site stabilization of youth experiencing a mental-health crisis. needed. 6. Serve as a consultant to administration, probation officers, court personnel, education department, attorneys, and institution professionals. 7. Serve as a consultant on the Case Planning and Review Committee (CPRC) by providing clinical opinion in the aid of developing recommendations for youth supervised by the Dallas County Juvenile Department. 8. Provide courtroom testimony as requested by officers of the court. 9. Obtain yearly professional development through opportunities offered by the Dallas County Juvenile Department or other approved professional organizations to aid in maintaining professional relevancy and licensure. 10. Complete the requirements for independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within 3 years of employment. 11. Conduct all other duties in the Psychology Division as directed by the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director or Supervisor. Clinician II -- Additional Responsibilities 12. Serve as a coordinator/lead of a sub-unit within the psychology division by completing various tasks and duties as assigned by the Clinical Director or Assistant Clinical Director or Supervisor including, but not limited to: program development and/or maintenance, maintaining and providing statistical data regarding the functioning of the unit, representing the sub-unit and psychology division in communications with other juvenile department staff, participate in weekly meetings, with other sub-unit supervisors and the Chief of Psychology, and acting as lead or serving as a consultant to other psychology staff as needed. Attend and participate in meetings with psychology staff that aid in the effective provision of clinical services to juvenile department youth and families. Qualifications Education, Experience and Training: Successful completion of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, or in a job related field of study. Clinician I (minimum salary) -- Minimum one (1) year pre-/post-graduate level supervised experience providing psychological services including psychotherapeutic services which may be obtained while pursuing a Master’s degree through the completion of a practicum program. Provisional license OR position may be under filled at job grade FM minimum until provisional licensed (passed test) is obtained, not to exceed three (3) years from date of hire. Training and experience in administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological assessments is strongly preferred. Clinician II (maximum in-hire salary) -- Minimum three (3) years post-graduate level supervised clinical experience; and independently licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Clinician I and II Knowledge of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, department, and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment. Note: “An elected official/department head may hire employees and pay them below the minimum salary rate for the position, if the elected official/department head believes the employee will be able to meet the minimum qualifications for the position within a defined period, which typically should not exceed 12 months. The salary grade for the position is reduced by one grade for each requirement not met by the applicant.” “Position requires working with juveniles who may have committed dangerous/aggressive acts; should possess a high tolerance for working in an emotionally demanding/stressful work environment.” Physical/Environmental Requirements: · Standard office environment. Must be able to visit various off-site locations. · An employee may be transferred to another department, shift, location, or facility based on the needs of the Department. · Working in a 24-hour facility may make the employee subject to working mandatory overtime or remaining on duty and working all, or a part of, an additional shift (“double shift”). · The incumbent is / may be considered to be ‘essential personnel’ subject to being held over or called back to a work location or alternate site at all times. When required, you will be notified by your supervisor. · Must be at least 21 years of age (for applicable positions) and must pass all portions (physical/written) of the Juvenile Academy to continue employment or all standards related to PREA and Ethics for specific positions.

Obtain yearly professional development through opportunities offered by the Dallas County Juvenile Department or other approved professional organizations to aid in maintaining professional relevancy and licensure.<br/><br/>10. Complete the requirements for independent licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) within 3 years of employment. <br/><br/>11.
