Preferences will be given to applicants with high-acuity training.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>BCIT Perinatal Nursing Specialty Program</strong></p>\n<p><strong>Online Theory (if required): Sept. 8 - Nov. 27, 2026</strong><strong>Full-time training at BCIT & practicum locations: Jan. 4 - Mar. 26, 2027</strong></p>\n<p><strong>*course dates will be modified based on previous courses completed. VCH only funds for required courses.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Travel to lower mainland required during practicums (exact dates TBD). Travel expenses reimbursed according to VCH policy.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Applicants must successfully complete the post-basic training education prior to working in the Department.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Candidates accepting this training opportunity agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for which they are hired for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This will ensure that candidates are able to consolidate and apply skills in the specialty area that VCH has supported and funded candidates to complete. Provides advanced perinatal nursing care to expectant clients by conducting a comprehensive nursing assessment of the client and fetus and by providing nursing care to other assigned medical/surgical patients both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers. Demonstrates continuous improvement and best practices approach in nursing practice. Maintains and advances own clinical competence.
