    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><br>Provides hands-on field support for the Hazardous Waste (HW) Management Program under `RCRA`. Executes hazardous and Explosive Hazardous Waste (`EHW`) containerization, profiling, shipment, and disposal activities to maintain Government compliance at generation, accumulation, storage, and treatment locations. Supports a high-volume program managing approximately 120 tons of HW shipped off-site annually, including operations associated with the Central Storage Facility and permitted treatment units such as `APE 1236`, the Contained Detonation Chamber (`CDC`), and `OB/OD` operations.</p><p>Compensation &amp; Benefits:<br>Estimated Starting Salary Range for Hazardous Waste/Material Handler (HWH): &nbsp;Pay commensurate with experience.<br><br>Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. &nbsp;Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.</p><p>Hazardous Waste/Material Handler (HWH) Responsibilities Include: &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Containerize hazardous and explosive hazardous waste in approved containers using correct segregation, compatibility, and packaging practices. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Maintain positive custody of waste from pickup through staging and shipment; ensure containers remain closed, serviceable, and properly staged. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Prepare waste for shipment and disposal, including coordinating internal transfers, staging for transport, and supporting off-site shipment execution. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Support waste profiling/characterization workflows by gathering required generator knowledge and documentation needed for profiles, manifests, and disposal acceptance. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ensure compliant container marking/labeling and date management in accordance with `RCRA` accumulation requirements and site procedures. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Support `DOT` shipping compliance tasks as assigned, including verifying packaging, markings, labels, placards (as applicable), and shipping documentation to support compliant outbound shipments. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Support routine waste pickups and container delivery operations; operate Government-furnished vehicles (`GOV`) and material handling equipment as authorized. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Maintain organization and housekeeping of waste staging and storage areas to keep inspection readiness at all times. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Maintain awareness of inventory for `DOT`-approved containers, labels, and spill response supplies; notify the team when stock is low. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Support spill management tasks for oil/HW incidents (including bulging drums) by securing the area, deploying spill materials as trained, documenting conditions, and escalating immediately to program leadership.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Performs other job-related duties as assigned</p><p>Hazardous Waste/Material Handler (HWH) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;High school diploma or GED. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;2+ years of hazardous waste operations experience (handling, containerization, staging, shipping support, or disposal support). &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Working knowledge of safe waste handling practices and ability to work in industrial environments using required PPE. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Knowledge of `DOT` shipping requirements and shipping compliance concepts (training may be provided to meet site-specific requirements). &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Valid driver’s license.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Current `40-hour HAZWOPER` certification with annual refresher (or ability to obtain/maintain). &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Forklift/material handling qualification (or ability to obtain), with experience moving containers safely. &nbsp;<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Familiarity with `RCRA` hazardous waste labeling, accumulation rules, and waste storage area inspection readiness.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal</p><p>Company Information:<br>Cherokee Strategic Solutions (CSS) is a part of Cherokee Federal – the division of tribally owned federal contracting companies owned by Cherokee Nation Businesses.
