    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>Procurement Buyer & Planner – Air Methods</strong></p>\n<p>At Air Methods, your work directly supports life-saving operations. As a Procurement Buyer & Planner, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our crews have the parts, equipment, and services they need to deliver emergency air medical care across the country.</p>\n<p>In this role, you’ll lead the sourcing and procurement of aviation components, maintenance services, and operational supplies—balancing cost, quality, and speed in a high-stakes environment where reliability matters. You’ll partner closely with Category Managers on strategic sourcing initiatives, including RFP and RFQ processes, supplier selection, and contract negotiations, helping drive value while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.</p>\n<p>You’ll also manage day-to-day procurement activities by fulfilling internal requisitions through available inventory, repair pipelines, or purchase orders with approved vendors. A key part of your impact will be overseeing the lifecycle of removed aircraft assets—ensuring timely routing for repair, overhaul, or disposition to keep our fleet mission-ready.</p>\n<p>Beyond execution, this role offers leadership opportunity. You’ll provide direction, guidance, and coaching to Buyers and Associate Buyers, helping elevate team performance and strengthen procurement capabilities across the organization.</p>\n<p><strong>What makes this role unique at Air Methods:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Direct impact on emergency medical flights and patient outcomes</li>\n <li>Exposure to aviation supply chain, including maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes</li>\n <li>Collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on safety and service</li>\n <li>Opportunity to lead, mentor, and influence procurement best practices</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Communicate frequently with vendors, internal supply chain, and management to determine buy, make or loan decisions. </li>\n <li>Monitor maintenance project progress for planned materials regularly and report project status to management.</li>\n <li>Manage procurement projects covering the areas of purchasing, contracting, sourcing, and commodity management.</li>\n <li>Develop innovative approaches to review procurement process effectiveness and explore logistics solutions for customers and suppliers. </li>\n <li>Assist and provide oversight on the proper processing of cores, warranty items and insurance claims.</li>\n <li>Use data mining techniques for use in proper procurement analysis to establish inventory levels.</li>\n <li>Identify, develop, and document standard processes that improve supply chain/ procurement performance.   </li>\n <li>Responsible to process material requests with appropriate urgency to meet company needs, especially for AOG and Rush orders. Track order status and maintain proper channels of communication, including proper escalation to management, in accordance with company policy.  </li>\n <li>Perform procurement and repair processing for aircraft parts, medical devices, and ground equipment. </li>\n <li>Support Category Managers with Strategic Sourcing activities for parts and services; including negotiations, pricing, and supplier management.  </li>\n <li>Any additional job or project assignments as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Job Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to support off hour emergency support phone line</li>\n <li>Regular scheduled attendance</li>\n <li>Indicate the percentage of time spent traveling < 10%</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Subject to applicable laws and Air Method’s policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position.  All employees must follow Air Methods’ employment practices and policies.</p>\n<p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<p>This position has no supervisory responsibilities.           </p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. In accordance with applicable laws, Air Methods will provide reasonable accommodations that do not create an undue burden so disabled employees may perform the essential functions of the position.</p>\n<p><strong>Education & Experience</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college plus APICS/CPIM certification and 5+ years of experience as a Buyer or in similar procurement role </li>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university or equivalent military or professional leadership experience, and 1-3 years of experience as a Buyer or similar procurement role preferred.  </li>\n <li>Demonstrated success in data gathering and analysis for process improvement implementation.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of business systems including ERP (Microsoft Dynamics), RAMCO and eProcurement (Coupa) preferred </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills  </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrates high critical thinking, reasoning skills, and strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment that requires the ability to prioritize and multi-task</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Computer Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook</li>\n <li>Proficient in eProcurement tools (Preferably Coupa) </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>Air Methods is an EEO/AA employer.
