Responsibilities The College of Nursing at the University of South Florida is seeking to fill a Full Professor with Tenure position. The successful candidate is expected to lead the CON Biostatistics core, mentor junior biostatistics faculty and data analyst staff regarding statistical methodology and data analytic methodologies and actively collaborate with interdisciplinary investigators across the College to support and advance externally funded research, particularly through federal agencies, while contributing to high-impact scholarly publications. The individual will serve as a biostatistician and/or co-investigator on grant proposals and research initiatives. Research faculty within the College conduct multidisciplinary research across a broad range of health science areas, including precision science, dissemination and implementation science projects, social determinants of health, chronic (diabetes, hypertension pain, cardiovascular disease) and infectious disease (HIV, Sickle cell disease) workforce development and sleep health. Faculty also engage in research with diverse populations, including minority and underserved communities locally and globally, while contributing to the College’s growing global and national research presence and collaborative research environment. The successful candidate will actively collaborate with College of Nursing research faculty and teams on individual, center, training, and program project proposals related to study design, protocol development, statistical analysis, data interpretation, and manuscript and grant proposal preparation. The individual will serve as a biostatistician and/or co-investigator on extramural grant proposals and will critically evaluate and recommend optimal analytical methodologies for individual projects, centers, and program initiatives, sample size calculation, and data analytic reports for grant reports. Responsibilities also include providing guidance to junior biostatistics faculty and data analyst staff regarding statistical methodology and programming, actively participating in faculty research development efforts, and working closely with PhD teaching faculty to teach and revise statistics courses for doctoral students while supporting doctoral student data analysis projects. In addition, the candidate will serve on university and college committees as appropriate and engage in community and professional service activities consistent with university and college criteria and expectations. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in referred and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Professor. Additional Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in statistical methods for clinical trials, longitudinal data, and multi-level modeling. Strong computational skills (e.g., proficiency in SPSS, SAS, R, and/or Stata) are required. Demonstrated history of consistent collaborative funding from NIH and other extramural agencies. Evidence of consistent publications and scholarly publications and primary or senior author. Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and scholarly productivity in interdisciplinary health sciences research. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, a commitment to team science, and effective oral and written communication skills. Commensurate with faculty rank, the candidate will have produced creative work, professional writing, or research in referred and other professional journals as primary or senior author. Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure at the University of South Florida. Funding as principal investigator, co-investigator, or lead biostatistician to cover at least 45% of salary. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Data Cores (e.g., within Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), cancer centers, or other similar research centers. Methodological and statistical expertise in research design, survival analysis and data analytic methodologies Expertise in psychometric analyses. Experience teaching biostatistics courses & mentoring junior faculty, Postdocs, PhD students, and research staff. Outstanding achievement (publications and service as principal investigator, co-investigator, or statistician on grants) to demonstrate exceptional ability for successful collaborations.
