Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)
Classification: Exempt
Status: Full-Time
Reports to : Director, Informatics
Purpose
The Sr. Manager, Product leads the Product track within the Informatics function, building and operating the Product Owner practice that manages requirements, acceptance criteria, and portfolio intake for IT delivery. This role is responsible for establishing consistent product ownership practices across all IT delivery workstreams. The Sr. Manager, Product works in close partnership with the Sr. Manager, Business Analysis and the Sr. Manager, Clinical Informatics to ensure requirements are well-formed before work enters delivery, and with the Director, Informatics to maintain portfolio visibility and prioritization across active work.
Responsibilities
Establishes product ownership standards: story writing templates, acceptance criteria quality benchmarks, definition of done frameworks, and backlog management practices. Owns the IT demand intake process in partnership with the Director, Informatics: ensures all work requests enter delivery through a structured, prioritized pipeline. Partners closely with the Sr. Managers of Clinical Informatics & Business Analysis to create a seamless requirements-to-delivery handoff: Analysts capture requirements; POs translate them into well-formed, prioritized delivery artifacts. Establishes and maintains the joint Acceptance-Criteria-to-Test-Case handoff standard with the Director, Quality Assurance; ensures Product Owners write acceptance criteria that QA can execute against directly. Maintains portfolio visibility: tracks active work, capacity, and priority stack ranking across all IT delivery teams in collaboration with the Director, Informatics. Participates in delivery ceremonies across Software Development, Data Engineering, and IT Infrastructure to ensure Product is embedded in how IT delivers. Serves as the escalation point for scope disputes, prioritization conflicts, and requirements ambiguity within the delivery pipeline. Develops and coaches Product Owners on writing testable acceptance criteria, managing stakeholder expectations, and advocating for definition of done rigor. Required Qualifications
7+ years of progressive experience in product ownership, product management, or a closely related business-IT bridge function, including at least 3 years in a lead or people management capacity. Demonstrated experience establishing or maturing a product owner practice, including developing story standards, acceptance criteria templates, and definition of done frameworks. Deep familiarity with agile delivery practices: backlog management, sprint planning, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder communication within a delivery team context. Proven ability to partner effectively with QA, engineering, and business stakeholders to define requirements that are both business-meaningful and technically executable. Experience building and developing junior-to-mid-level Product Owners, including hiring, coaching, and performance management. Strong communication and facilitation skills; comfortable engaging both technical delivery teams and non-technical business stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare, specialty pharmacy, or regulated industry experience, with exposure to clinical or operational data environments. Familiarity with ASTQB/ISTQB concepts sufficient to write acceptance criteria that are directly executable as QA test cases. Exposure to portfolio and demand management frameworks (SAFe, OKR-aligned intake, Lean Portfolio Management). Experience with product and project management tooling (Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, or equivalent). Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent product certification. Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Work Environment
This position works in a home office and professional office environment. When in-office this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and communications via MS Teams.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as reading and working with various forms of data on a screen. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Benefits:
Hybrid, remote and flexible on-site work schedules are available, based on the position. PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy also affords an excellent benefit package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, health savings and flexible spending accounts, 401K with employer matching, employer-paid life insurance and short/long term disability coverage, and an Employee Assistance Program! Generous paid time off is also available to all full-time employees, as well as limited paid time off for part-time employees. Of course we offer paid holidays too!
Equal Opportunity:
PANTHERx Rare Pharmacy is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate in recruiting, hiring, promotions or any term or condition of employment based on race, age, religion, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran's status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
