Description
SUMMARY
Valet and Bell Manager oversees valet attendants and other staff that perform valet and bellperson services. They create and coordinate work schedules, assign posting positions, record guest requests for valet service and train team members on venue features and services. Collect, secure and distribute guest room keys, coordinate luggage deliveries and distribute pertinent guest arrival and departure details to team members. Other duties include ensuring the lobby, entrance and baggage storage areas are clean and presentable; collecting and submitting time sheets; conducting performance reviews; and ensuring that valet and bell equipment and supplies are working properly.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
Setting the utmost expectations for guest interactions & hospitality, leading by example in greeting & assisting guests.
Ensuring the valet desk, bell closet, and entryway are always clean & organized.
Ensure there is always a presence in front of the property; communicating issues or concerns with the valet/bell service directly to the Director of Front Office & Hotel Manager.
Ensure employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs. This includes training new valet/bell team members, hotel issued property (i.e., uniforms), keeping necessary supplies & tools in order and in stock (ie, pens, valet/bell tags, cleaning supplies, bell carts).
Ensuring all duties and responsibilities of the valet/bell team are being completed on shift this includes but is not limited to: ensuring the staff is in uniform & abiding by all basic expectations (ie, earpieces, etc), ensuring that rain procedures are followed, enlisting the help of public areas housekeeping team to correct any cleanliness deficiencies at the front entrance, researching and correcting any discrepancies with lost, missing or damaged guest luggage or vehicle.
Assisting the Director of Front Office with weekly valet/bellman schedules, Understanding basic Opera to be able to look up rooms for room drops, etc
Working closely with other departments in the hotel to address their needs for guests and groups. This includes but is not limited to: attending the BEO Meetings, completing room drops, coordinating with the Front Office Managers to complete bag drops according to the group resume for hotel groups, ensuring that the valet/bell team is prepared for VIP guest arrivals requesting luggage assistance.
Attend mandatory leadership meetings & manager training sessions
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English and any foreign language with the guests and visitors, management and co-workers to their fullest understanding.
Ability to provide legible communication and directions.
Ability to understand guest inquiries and provide responses.
Ability to focus attention on the guest’s needs with a sense of urgency.
Ability to prioritize, organize and to make good judgments.
Ability to work well under pressure of arriving and departing guests.
Ability to exert physical effort in placing and removing guest luggage to and from the guest rooms and bell closet storage areas.
Ability to remain stationary at an assigned post for extended periods of time.
Ability to ensure security of guest room access at all and in all particular situations.
Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
Greet and welcome guest to the establishment and offer professional valet services
Accommodate guests by opening doors and assisting with luggage or other heavy items
Direct traffic in the parking area as needed and assist guests in entering and leaving the parking lot
Answer guests' questions regarding local attractions, hotel amenities and other available services
Collect and accurately label keys belonging to guests to ensure their proper return
Park guests' vehicles in predetermined areas within the parking lot, following all traffic laws
Operate vehicles safely and responsibility
Organize and file paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Proven safe driver and clean driving records is essential
Valid personal car insurance is required
Ability to communicate professionally

Ability to multitask and tend to several customers at once
Experience driving vehicles with both manual and automatic transmission
Organizational skills are necessary to quickly recall the location of vehicles and their appropriate keys
EDUCATIONAL AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
High School diploma of General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES
Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:
Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests.
Ability to acknowledge guests’ requests in a polite manner.
Knowledge of contemporary New Orleans art, music, theatre, museums and culture.
Enthusiastic of bringing the aesthetics of the Ace Hotel brand to the guest experience.
Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).
Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.
Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
