    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><p data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>WCIRB Actuarial Internship Program - Data Analytics and Research</strong></p><p>The Workers&#39; Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau of California (WCIRB) provides a 10-week internship program to participate in hands-on training in the areas of Actuarial Science, Data Analytics and Research. The position starts in late June 2026. This position works in our San Francisco headquarters four days a week (30 hours). Remote work is not available.&nbsp;</p><p>We work on a variety of workers&rsquo; compensation projects, from medical cost trend analysis and classification research that support advisory pure premium rate changes (see: <a href=\"https://www.wcirb.com/filings-and-plans/regulatory-and-pure-premium-rate-filings\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https://www.wcirb.com/filings-and-plans/regulatory-and-pure-premium-rate-filings\">Regulatory and Pure Premium Rating Filings | WCIRB California</a>), to innovative studies uncovering emerging drivers of system costs. Our research dives into timely and relevant topics, such as <a href=\"https://www.wcirb.com/research-and-education/research-studies-and-reports/impacts-employee-tenure-workers%E2%80%99-compensation-claim-frequency-california\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https://www.wcirb.com/research-and-education/research-studies-and-reports/impacts-employee-tenure-workers%e2%80%99-compensation-claim-frequency-california\">employee tenure</a> and <a href=\"https://www.wcirb.com/research-and-education/research-studies-and-reports/does-experience-rating-help-keep-workers-safe\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https://www.wcirb.com/research-and-education/research-studies-and-reports/does-experience-rating-help-keep-workers-safe\">the effectiveness of experience rating in promoting workplace safety</a>. We also push boundaries by exploring how climate change and AI may influence the workers&rsquo; compensation landscape in the years ahead. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>We seek motivated and curious students entering their third or fourth year at a college or university or graduates in a Math, Science, Statistics or related undergraduate/graduate program to participate in a part-time, paid, opportunity. No prior Actuarial experience or exams are required.</p><p>In this internship, the intern will work alongside our highly skilled and professional staff and will work on challenging projects that will provide practical work experience while developing problem solving and decision-making skills.</p><p>As an Intern at the WCIRB, you will:</p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Learn about various workers&#39; compensation insurance data, such as workers&rsquo; compensation policy and claims data, and medical and indemnity transaction data</li><li>Analyze and internally present data for research studies</li><li>Work on dashboards of important data trends and patterns</li><li>Receive coaching and professional development from department leaders and learn about our organization and industry</li></ul><p>This internship opportunity is in our San Francisco, CA office and will operate under the guidance of WCIRB Actuarial and Research department leadership.&nbsp;</p><p>This internship is a part-time opportunity working 30 hours per week for ten weeks, four days on-site, starting in late June 2026. <strong>Interns will be paid $28.00 per hour.</strong></p><p>This internship opportunity does not provide any housing allocation. Participants are responsible for arranging their own housing and transportation.
