Location: Transportation Garage - Onsite
Reports To: Superintendent of Education
Probationary Period: 6 months
FLSA Status: Exempt (salaried)
Classification: Child-Related CA
Driver’s License: Class B Driver’s License with a Bus Driver’s endorsement is required and must be insurable under Fond du Lac’s insurance requirements.
Rate of Pay: 62,130.43 - $69,896.74
Responsibilities
Provides supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Transportation Department policies and procedures to all Transportation employees. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, recommendations, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, and employee discipline, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Coordinates the decision to cancel, delay or shorten the bus routes because of inclement weather.
Prepares schedules for various bus routes and assigns buses to each route and driver.
Drives vehicles and complete routes, as necessary.
Conduct and document emergency evacuation drills as required.
Maintain and manage daily inspection of transportation department vehicles.
Monitor and manage state and federal transportation vehicle safety inspections.
Monitor and ensure all drivers maintain appropriate license.
Schedules routine and necessary repairs of the buses and vehicle assigned to the transportation department.
Create and process transportation invoices.
Submits reports to the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School Board as requested.
Prepares and submits annual BIE/ISEP student mileage transportation documents for funding.
Enforce and monitor all bus discipline policies.
Be knowledgeable of bus driver’s manual contents.
Schedules new driver’s drug testing appointments.
Attends meetings and training programs as required.
Maintains current listings of all students’ assignments for each bus route.
Performs minor repairs on buses, as possible.
Maintains a maintenance schedule for all vehicles.
Appropriate work attire is required.
Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees, band members, and/or clients.
Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.
Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.
Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community.
Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.
Maintains a clean and organized work area.
Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License issued in the US is required.
Eligibility determined by FDL's insurance company.
Endorsements – Class B (S) School bus/Passenger Transport required.
5 years’ experience as a Transportation Supervisor
5 Years experience as a School Bus Driver
1 Year experience in the area of administration management.
Knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases and/or data entry, spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook is required.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with the Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
Travel is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Annual physical is required.
Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including work in adverse weather conditions.
