Description

Overview The Director | Senior Director of Global Healthcare Value & Access (gHCVa), Contractor is responsible for developing and operationalizing relevant strategies for pipeline assets in development focused in orphan and rare diseases. The gHCVa Director | Senior Director will be responsible to ensure the asset in development targets the area of highest unmet need. The role will provide strategic direction globally to ensure assets in development secure a price point that is reflective of the innovation being commercialized. The gHCVa Director | Senior Director will work closely with global and regional cross-functional development colleagues as well as affiliate-level colleagues responsible for commercializing assets in development to develop an integrated evidence generation plan that will support the differentiating value proposition of the asset. Position is responsible for delivering on asset-specific projects such as payer & related-stakeholder research, defining the value proposition, informing pricing strategy & policy. value communication, evidence generation & synthesis such as disease burden studies, global value dossier, and global health economic models. The position is part of Global Scientific Operations (GSO) which also includes Global Epidemiology & Real World Evidence and Global Medical Affairs. The three functions within GSO collectively inform the scientific narrative that defines and addresses unmet need, informs the value proposition, and identifies where in treatment strategy the asset in development helps to optimize patient and health system outcomes. Responsibilities For assets in research or development: identify areas of high unmet need working with GEE and GMA as well as other cross-functional colleagues as needed. Define evidence generation requirements to quantify unmet need, how asset’s projected efficacy is to positively effect patient and health system outcomes. Conduct payer research to inform pricing and evidence requirements to address areas of high unmet need. Provide guidance to cross-functional colleagues, including new product planning, to maximize value of a given asset (indication prioritization). Engage external experts (former or current payers and HTA assessors, clinical thought leaders); to better understand stakeholder perspective around unmet need and how to effectively optimize the asset’s value proposition. Draft asset’s value proposition; inform the asset’s target product profile; work with cross-functional colleagues as needed to inform the asset’s development programs across stage gates (including Ph 1, Ph 2 and Ph 3). Seek input from regulators through EMA | HTA joint scientific advice to inform an asset’s development program. Engage with regional and affiliate market access colleagues, and other cross-functional colleagues as needed to develop global market access-related deliverables such as the global value dossier and relevant economic models. Establish global pricing and policy strategy. Inform asset launch sequence and early market access programs. Act as subject matter expertise on market access trends in major markets that impact on pricing potential and reimbursement for a given asset in development. Ensure value optimization is maintained post asset launch by working across regions to identify additional evidence generation required to bolster the asset’s global value proposition. Conduct and or support special projects as needed to stay current on global market access trends and implications to Shionogi portfolio. Minimum Job Requirements Advanced degree such as MSc and/or PhD preferred. Minimum of 3 -5 years working in an affiliate-level Market Access team within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry (preferably the US). Minimum of 7-10 years working in global Market Access teams within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industry. Current on the latest market access trends including Joint Clinical Assessments and rapidly evolving pricing policies such as MFN. Deep subject matter expertise on the US healthcare system specific to market access preferred. Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing market access plans for pipeline assets in various disease areas such as orphan disease required. Experience conducting market-access related studies such as burden of disease studies, modeling, systematic literature reviews, and meta-analyses required. Proficiency working with clinical outcome assessment measures. Exhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and execute a strategic vision for gHCVa within GSO. Demonstrate exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills, working effectively with global and regional cross-functional teams, including Development, Clinical, New Product Planning, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Epidemiology and Real World Evidence, and Market Access. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills to deliver compelling presentations and represent the organization at conferences. Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels within the organization. Ability to engage and build strong relationships with external stakeholders, including but not limited to thought leaders and academic experts. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Proficient in resource allocation, budget management, and project planning to ensure successful execution of projects.
