Title of Position Director of Talent & Culture Department : Human Talent & Culture Reports to Supervisor : Executive Vice President & COO FLSA: Exempt Holy Cross College’s Mission: The Mission of Holy Cross College is to educate and form global citizens with the competence to see and the courage to act. Purpose: The Director of Talent & Culture is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy which supports faculty and staff in advancing the College’s educational mission, strategic objectives, and operational priorities. This includes faculty and staff talent acquisition & development, total rewards, employee wellness, and compliance, along with information, systems, and external partner relations management. The Director of Talent & Culture reports to the Executive Vice President & COO. Typical Schedule : This is a full-time position with normal workdays Monday through Friday. Extended hours and a flexible schedule may be necessary to meet deadlines and project requirements of the college including occasional weekends. Essential Job Duties: Leadership Expectations and Opportunities An understanding of Holy Cross College’s Catholic identity and educational mission. An appreciation for how visionary leadership of the College’s human resources functions, and partnership with the College’s Board, President, and Executive Council, supports and advances the College’s strategic objectives and operational priorities. Develop and implement a Collegewide strategy for attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing faculty and staff through leadership development, career pathways, and succession planning. Support hiring managers throughout active search processes. Work closely with the EVP & COO and College leadership to develop an annual performance management process. Foster faculty and staff engagement by implementing wellness initiatives, community-building activities, employee appreciation events, and by promoting workplace practices which support work-life balance. Processes, Policies, and Compliance Administer total rewards processes, including salary & benefits benchmarking and administration, benefits renewal processes, and executive compensation. Collaborate with the College’s Business Office as appropriate on compensation and benefits administration. Oversee workplace investigation processes, improvement plans, corrective actions, and separation, involving the College’s leadership and external legal counsel as appropriate. Develop, administer, and periodically review relevant documents and policies, including but not limited to employee handbooks, position requisitions, search and hiring guidelines, and PTO/illness/leave policies. Lead the completion and submission of the annual IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) human resources survey, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal reporting requirements. Coordinate and execute participation in CUPA-HR (College and University Professional Association for Human Resources) surveys, including salary and benefits data benchmarking. Serve as the College’s Title IX Coordinator. Ensure proper federal, state, and local compliance including but not limited to ADA, EEO, and sexual harassment. Systems, Information, and External Relations Management Responsible for use and oversight of human resources technology systems, maintenance and accuracy of data, and accurate reporting to support informed decision-making. Maintain relationships with external partners, including but not limited to HRIS systems vendors, employee training platform vendors, retirement plan vendors & partners, benefits brokers, peer groups, and relevant professional organizations. Operations and Other Duties Partner with Academic Affairs to initiate faculty and adjunct contract renewals. Initiate and oversee new hire employment, including offer documentation, new hire forms, background checks, and employment eligibility verification (I-9), ensuring accuracy and timely completion. Lead orientation programs that integrate employees into institutional culture and provide compliance training (Title IX, FERPA, safety). Develop appropriate training programs for Supervisors (including managing student employees) Oversee the institution’s student employment program, ensuring compliance with federal work-study regulations and institutional policies. Manage and maintain up to date student employment webpage. Remain informed on current trends and practices in higher education, especially compensation and benefits, legal and regulatory matters, and talent development. Periodically reports to the EVP & COO on employee concerns and workplace culture. Assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed. Education, Skills, and Ability Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required, Master’s degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Minimum seven years of progressively responsible human resources experiences, preferably within higher education or not-for-profit settings. Familiarity with ADP information system preferred.
