Description
An early-career pharmaceutical sales role designed for a motivated individual interested in developing strong foundational skills in sales, customer engagement, and territory management. Reporting to the Director of Business Operations (DBO), the Sales Representative, Vacancy Management will support prospecting initiatives across key territories, including identifying appropriate targets and lead qualification to drive sales growth, while partnering with Sales Leadership to prioritize prospecting efforts aligned to strategic goals. Secondarily, they will work collaboratively with Sales and Patient Access Services (PAS) teams to maintain a positive customer experience and demand generation during periods of representation disruption The role will bridge the gap between Territory Business Manager vacancies and leaves of absence through flexible coverage, including virtual support and potential in-person engagement, to ensure territories remain properly covered and business disruption is minimized. Sales Representatives must be geographically flexible to cover short-term territory assignments when in-person coverage is required.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Prospecting & Strategic Account Management
Support prospecting initiatives across key territories, including identifying new appropriate targets and lead qualification to drive sales growth
Partner with DBO and District Business Leaders (DBLs) to prioritize prospecting efforts aligned to strategic goals
Contribute to opportunity identification through proactive, data-driven outreach
Take on special projects based on district needs, such as pilot initiatives, reporting support, territory analysis, onboarding assistance, or process improvements
Actively manage all aspects of assigned accounts including identification of challenges and opportunities to ensure company success in a compliant manner
Drive cross-functional alignment of key strategies and tactics and ensure effective communication and implementation
Vacancy Management
Collaborate with Sales Leadership, PAS, and Marketing to identify and develop a comprehensive plan to manage accounts, both virtually and in-person, during times of vacancy and transition Be geographically flexible to cover short-term territory assignments when in-person coverage is required Conduct field visits, engage directly with customers, and execute territory plans to maintain business continuity Collaborate with DBL and cross-functional partners to understand territory priorities and execute effectively on the ground Demonstrate a strong understanding of all aspects of VIVITROL, alcohol and opioid dependence and related products in the marketplace Display strong selling skills through the use of approved sales aids, approved studies and reprints with superior communication and listening skills with targeted accounts Use selling skills that demonstrate competent use of all facets of VIVITROL Execution Priorities: Before the Call, During the Call, and After the Call Abide by all Alkermes policies, procedures, and training regarding promotional and sample accountability compliance
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required Driver's license must be in good standing Must be able to demonstrate or secure appropriate credentialing, as may be required by healthcare providers for physical access to their facilities Preferred Requirements:
Internship or customer-facing experience Interest in sales, account management, or customer-facing career paths Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Superior verbal, written and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to promote and proactively engage in collaboration High level of commitment and strong sense of accountability Travel Requirements:
Be geographically flexible to cover short-term territory assignments when in-person coverage is required Ability to travel up to 100%
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $96k to $116k. In addition, this position is eligible for an annual performance pay bonus.
