Description
Job Title: Lead Counselor
Reports To: Clinical Director
Location: Northpoint Nebraska
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8-5pm with 1 weekend/month
Compensation: $70,000-90,000/year
Northpoint Recovery Holdings, LLC began 2009 as Ashwood Outpatient and officially launched the Northpoint platform in 2015. Now celebrating 10 years of growth in 2025, Northpoint is a leading behavioral healthcare provider offering evidence-based treatment for adults with substance use and co-occurring disorders through the Northpoint Recovery brand, and mental health treatment for adolescents through Imagine by Northpoint . Operating under an in-network, commercial insurance model, Northpoint has grown exclusively through de novo expansion—from two facilities to seventeen across the Western U.S.—with more planned in both existing and new markets. POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Northpoint team, the Inpatient Lead Counselor is responsible for assisting the Market VP and other leadership in the management and direction of a multidisciplinary team for inpatient programming. The Inpatient Lead Counselor will actively communicate with support staff, treatment teams, and outside agencies on treatment and safety issues pertaining to patients and their family members. Additionally, this position will provide individual, group and family therapy for patients, as required by contractual and licensure obligations and will complete all documentation associated with these duties in a professional and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the inpatient program and facility assigned including treatment services, programming, and all key responsibilities required by state and federal guidelines
Collaborate with the Market VP and other leadership to assist in meeting business and clinical objectives; support/maximize current business activities and provision of quality patient care
Evaluate staff competency. Provide professional growth and development of staff and provide direction and support to the staff regarding attainment of short-term and long-term goals and objectives
Create, update, and review evidenced-based curriculum utilized in lecture and educational sessions for patients alongside the expanded clinical team
Create, update, and review patient assignments utilized in treatment
Create, provide, and research in-house clinical trainings to improve team skills
Directly oversee patient risk assessment needs and follow through
Case staffing, individual case supervision, review of case record maintenance, treatment planning, facilitate individual and group therapy, discharge planning, and documentation standards
Ensure staff knowledge and utilization of all written Northpoint guidelines, protocol, policies, and procedures
Recognize and respond to opportunities for problem solving amongst clinical staff
Delegate growth opportunities and tasks to clinical staff when necessary
Review clinical documentation daily and provide signatures as needed
Work closely, cooperatively, and amicably while maintaining professional boundaries with all staff members and patients
Monitor clinical staff organization and cover scheduling needs; organize holiday group coverage
Oversee clinical correspondence; probation officers, outside counselors, doctors, court system, and all external needs for clinical communication
Promote employee engagement to achieve a positive and productive workforce
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care
Other clinically appropriate services and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree in Mental Health, Social Services, or another relevant field
Must hold an active substance use and/or mental health licensure in the state where treatment services are rendered
Must maintain applicable state licensure requirements at hire, and for the entire duration of employment
3+ years of progressively responsible exempt level experience in mental health discipline
2+ years of experience in an administrative or leadership capacity
Ability to work with a diverse patient population and possess strong interpersonal skills and knowledge required for treating patients in our care
Must hold strong personal boundaries and able to build rapport with patients
Must understand and adhere to the ethical standards of the respective licensure governing board
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain internal and external relationships in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on execution and results
Action-oriented with the ability to: adapt to change, work independently, prioritize tasks, and drive to finish
Must have solid clinical judgment
Experience with a growing company with multiple entities preferred

Able to handle confidential material in a reliable manner
Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct manager for clinical, medical, administrative, operations, and support staff and operations
