Overview National Louis University’s Undergraduate College (UGC) is currently seeking Math Corequisite Adjunct Instructors to join our distinguished team of dedicated instructors for the 2026-2027 academic year. Adjunct faculty will be teaching undergraduate courses like: Corequisite Lab Classes for Math 101, 105 and 115 etc. Availability: This position requires on-site teaching for daytime (between 9am and 4pm) courses. Who We Are We are a team of dedicated educators who have been working together to build a new Undergraduate College (UGC) at National Louis University (NLU), focused on building academic pathways and providing holistic student support to ensure students are career ready. Essential Responsibilities Facilitation of Corequisite Courses Plan and facilitate impactful class sessions that support students in associated credit-bearing course(s). Support students with quantitative literacy, foundational math skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and exploration of academic identity Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom community where all students feel welcome and have the support and resources that will help them to thrive academically Use responsive pedagogy that validates and builds on students’ experiences and strengths Lead structured-yet-flexible class sessions, combining effective use of whole class, small group, one-on-one, and individual activities Guide students in developing metacognitive skills such as self-reflection, time management, and persistence strategies Classroom-Informed Decision Making Solicit student input (with careful attention to student needs, identities, interests, major areas, etc.) to make informed curricular and pedagogical decisions for both individuals and the group as a whole Provide responsive instruction and skill development that align with current assignments in students’ associated course(s), as well as with student interests and learning needs Actively monitor student engagement and performance and respond accordingly Team Collaboration and Coordination Engage in regular team meetings to review curriculum, reflect on teaching practices and data, and plan impactful student supports Coordinate with partners and teams to connect students with resources and to share information that will better inform work in the program and at the university Collaboration with Embedded Support Approach work with embedded academic support team members using a “conspire and align” approach (rather than a hierarchical command model) Regularly confer with the embedded support to inform classroom facilitation and gain insight into student strengths, needs, and interests Promote classroom conditions, norms, and practices that enable the embedded support to do their work effectively Course Compliance Ensure that all course-related documentation (attendance, grades, progress reports, data collection, etc.) is completed accurately and on time Utilize technology-based teaching platforms and university data systems effectively and in accordance with all relevant policies and regulations Qualifications Masters degree or higher AND at least one of the following: 18 graduate semester hours in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field OR Track record of teaching appointments and demonstrated skill in teaching quantitative literacy and/or statistics at the secondary level or higher OR Track record of appointments and demonstrated skill at providing academic support for college-level math and/or statistics Spanish-English bilingual or experience teaching English Language Learners a plus. *Current professional teaching experience preferred.
