Directly or indirectly, you'll have exposure to cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking medical research.</p>\n<p><strong>Johns Hopkins Hospital</strong> in Baltimore, MD is hiring a <strong>Pathology Assistant.   </strong> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Monday - Friday  9:00 AM-5:30 PM, no weekendsMonday - Friday 1:00 PM -9:30 PM, no weekends</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Pay Rate:</strong> $65-$67</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>A pathologist assistant is qualified by academic and practical training to provide the following services under the general direction and supervision of a pathologist: performs gross examination and dissection of all surgical pathology specimens, including complex surgical resections, description and tissue sectioning for histological preparation. </li>\n <li>Obtains specimens from the operating rooms and performs appropriate examination including frozen sectioning and reported gross. </li>\n <li>Specimen photography and radiography as needed. </li>\n <li>Collects and distributes tissue to tumor bank and investigators.</li>\n <li>Performs gross examination of complex surgical specimens, including dissection, description and tissue sectioning for histological preparation (see training checklist for details).</li>\n <li>Consistently verifies patient information on specimen and requisition.</li>\n <li>Accurately dissects specimens and selects proper tissue sections according to department protocol.</li>\n <li>Accurately describes specimens clearly and concisely.</li>\n <li>Performs specimen photography and radiography as needed</li>\n <li>Collects and distributes tissue to tumor bank and/or researchers and investigators as needed</li>\n <li>Use of the follow equipment/tools: Cryostat, computer, photography equipment, gross stations, dictation systems, telephone/intercom, microscope, cassette etcher, x-ray machine and faxitron, x-ray film developer, and Stryker and bone saws.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Graduation from a NAACLS accredited post baccalaureate Pathologists’ Assistant Training Program</li>\n <li>ASCP BOR certified (or ASCP BOR exam eligible) or completion of a Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor, or equivalent in any of the biological or allied health sciences and Pathologist Assistant/Grossing experience</li>\n <li>Must be certified PA (ASCP or department approved certifying agency)</li>\n <li>Minimum of 1 year experience is required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Johns Hopkins Health System and its affiliates are an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action employers.
