    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span><strong>You belong at Day &amp; Ross.&nbsp;</strong></span></p>\n<p>Operations Manager&nbsp;</p>\n<p>Full-time</p>\n<p>Saint John, NB</p>\n<p>Schedule: 1pm - 9pm Afternoon shift</p>\n<p><span>The Operations Manager is accountable for ensuring that the dock employees are working in a safe and efficient manner. You are responsible to ensure smooth operations, efficiencies, people management, freight flow, change implementation, and safety, aligned to operational expectations and guidelines. This position is all about the effective management of freight flow through the management of people and safety, continuous improvement, problem solving and effective communication.</span><span>&nbsp;</span></p>\n<p><strong>How You’ll Help:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<div style=\"font-style:normal; font-weight:400; margin:0px; padding:0px\">\n <ul>\n  <li><span>Lead and manage a fast paced and high-volume dock operation though a team of supervisors, lead hands, and front line employees to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all dock activities and supporting office tasks.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Coach and develop team members using a positive attitude, collaboration, clear communication, and direction.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Make informed decisions based on safety, service, and productivity standards, with an understanding of company processes, policies and procedures.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Initiate and lead process and customer experience improvements, while meeting deadlines and controlling costs.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Understand and use key metrics to manage terminal performance, including load factor, on-time delivery, LMS, and freight flow.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Prioritize the unloading and loading of freight, moving all damaged freight and returns appropriately.</span></li>\n  <li><span>Recognize risks and problems and work collaboratively with others to practical and speedy resolution.</span>&nbsp;</li>\n  <li><span>Ensure and monitor the continuous flow of communications and information relating to freight delivery so the appropriate parties are aware of solutions/actions to be taken to ensure safe and timely operations.&nbsp;</span></li>\n  <li><span>Other related duties related as may be required.</span></li>\n </ul>\n</div>\n<p><strong>Your Skills and Experience:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><span>Post secondary education in transportation or logistics preferred.&nbsp; A suitable level of practical experience may be considered in lieu of education.</span></li>\n <li><span>Trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods</span></li>\n <li><span>WHMIS certified.</span></li>\n <li><span>3-5 years’ experience in a terminal setting, preferably in the transportation industry.</span></li>\n <li><span>Experience leading a team of front line employees, managers, and supervisors</span></li>\n <li><span>Contributing to the development of and managing to an annual operating budget.</span></li>\n <li><span>Ideal to have leadership experience in transportation or operations as well as various roles in transportation&nbsp;</span></li>\n <li><span>exceptional leadership and influencing skills, including the ability to effectively get things done through others, lead by example, coach, and support staff and other leaders</span></li>\n <li><span>strong conflict resolution skills and leadership</span></li>\n <li><span>results driven</span></li>\n <li><span>a strong sense of customer service and urgency, troubleshooting and problem solving skills;</span></li>\n <li><span>strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written</span></li>\n <li><span>computer skills including the Microsoft Suite and preferably, Truck Mate</span></li>\n <li><span>the ability to lead and reinforce a strong culture of workplace safety</span></li>\n <li><span>&nbsp;English, other languages an asset</span></li>\n <li><span>Bilingualism in English and French required for terminals located in the Province of Quebec.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span>To apply, visit our Careers page at <strong>dayross.com</strong>.</span><br><br><span>If you’re chosen for the role, you’ll be asked to provide reference and criminal background checks before employment.
