This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, relationship building, and making thoughtful decisions in a fast-paced environment.<br><br></span></p>\n<p>As an Associate Underwriter, you’ll help evaluate risk, support quoting and policy decisions, and work closely with agents and internal teams to deliver a high-quality experience. This position plays an important role in balancing profitability, accuracy, and customer service while continuing to grow underwriting knowledge and technical skills.<br><br></p>\n<p>At SSIU, we empower our underwriting team to think critically, collaborate closely, and continuously improve how we serve our agents and partners.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\">What You’ll Do</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review and evaluate risks with support and guidance from the underwriting team</li>\n<li>Assist with quoting, risk analysis, and underwriting decisions in accordance with company guidelines</li>\n<li>Help ensure pricing and coverage decisions align with profitability goals and underwriting strategy</li>\n<li>Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements</li>\n<li>Deliver prompt, professional, and relationship-focused service to retail agents</li>\n<li>Educate agents on appetite, coverage, and underwriting philosophy</li>\n<li>Build relationships with agency partners through phone, email, and occasional field visits</li>\n<li>Support operational efficiency and process improvement initiatives</li>\n<li>Collaborate with teammates across departments to support business goals and service standards<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\">Requirements</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Education &amp; Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Finance, or a related field preferred</li>\n<li>High school diploma or equivalent required</li>\n<li>Exposure to insurance, underwriting, or risk management concepts preferred</li>\n<li>Open to individuals looking to grow their insurance knowledge and underwriting career</li>\n<li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Knowledge, Skills &amp; Abilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail</li>\n<li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment</li>\n<li>Comfortable making decisions and solving problems with guidance and support</li>\n<li>Strong communication and relationship-building skills</li>\n<li>Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with a team</li>\n<li>Adaptable and flexible when priorities shift</li>\n<li>Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn</li>\n<li>Maintains confidentiality and professionalism</li>\n<li>Strong customer service mindset and responsiveness</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Physical Requirements</span></p>\n<p>To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sit or stand for extended periods of time</li>\n<li>Repetitively use hands and fingers for computer work</li>\n<li>View and work on computer monitors for extended periods<br><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>At SSIU, we believe taking care of our people comes first — which is why we offer 100% employer-paid health and dental benefits, generous paid time off, 12 paid holidays each year, flexible work arrangements, and a 401(k) with a 4% company safe harbor match.</span><br><br><span>SSIU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
