As a leader in Mandarin Immersion education, our mission is to nurture our inclusive and diverse community to become empowered, engaged, and outstanding global citizens. We currently serve 952 students across three campuses, and continue to grow our enrollment each year. Our intentionally diverse student body comes from many racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds representing 70 zip codes across the Bay Area and 29 home languages. To learn more about our innovative school visit our website</span><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"http://www.yumingschool.org/\"><br></a><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https://www.yumingschool.org\"><span>www.yumingschool.org</span></a><span>.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Provide a high quality, personalized education program in music</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Build a classroom culture in which students love music</span></li>\n<li><span>Engage students with a repertoire that is relevant to their lives and interests and incorporates choral and instrumental music</span></li>\n<li><span>Design and execute high-quality community music performance opportunities for all students</span></li>\n<li><span>Prepare lesson plans and course timelines; select materials for courses</span></li>\n<li><span>Communicate regularly with students and their families about classroom activities and student progress</span></li>\n<li><span>Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engaged</span></li>\n<li><span>Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li><span>Lead an after-school music club and/or band, providing students with opportunities to develop musical skills and perform.</span></li>\n<li><span>Develop a week-long expeditionary hands-on learning experiences for middle school students</span></li>\n<li><span>Coordinate school-wide music performances three times a year</span></li>\n<li><span>Actively participate in professional development activities including engaging in training with school leaders and coaches to benefit from targeted feedback on instruction, accelerating learning and growth with unparalleled support</span></li>\n<li><span>Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Maintain a high-level of professionalism including meeting deadlines and commitments to self and the community</span></li>\n<li><span>Perform other related duties as required and assigned</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span>QUALIFICATIONS</span></p>\n<p><span>Required</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Bachelor’s degree</span></li>\n<li><span>Music or multiple-subject teaching credential or plan to enroll in a teaching intern program</span></li>\n<li><span>Successful completion of CBEST and/or CSET exam; CLAD or BCLAD</span></li>\n<li><span>Experience working with students as a teacher, teacher intern, or teaching assistant preferred</span></li>\n<li><span>Proficiency in playing and teaching brass and/or woodwind instruments</span></li>\n<li><span>Professional training in a rigorous music or music education program</span></li>\n<li><span>Experience working with children and implementing music instruction</span></li>\n<li><span>Passionate about music and learning</span></li>\n<li><span>Superb interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, colleagues and families</span></li>\n<li><span>Flexibility and adaptability to change; ability to work in a dynamic, creative and start-up learning environment</span></li>\n<li><span>Driven adult learner dedicated to his or her own professional growth, including learning new and innovative teaching practices</span><span> </span></li>\n<li><span>Ability to teach music through ukulele, recorder, and brass/woodwind instruments.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>TIME COMMITMENT</span></p>\n<p><span>180-day school year, 8 student-free professional development days for collaboration with colleagues.
