Position Purpose: Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Medical Assistants (MA) assist in providing excellent patient care by assisting physicians/physician assistants/nurse practitioners in medical office settings. Performs a variety of patient care duties within the construct of a multidisciplinary patient care team as delegated by the physician. Key Responsibilities: LPN Works under the direction of the provider and the Arizona State Nurse Practice Act to provide professional nursing care for clinic patients in compliance with nursing standards and regulations. Triage patients by phone or in person, receiving and implementing telephone physician orders, maintaining clinical communication in a dynamic environment. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care for both clinic and procedures. Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests. May perform venipuncture. MA Responsible for patient care under the direct supervision (in the office suite or exam room) of a Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner. Escorts patient to the exam room and prepares patient for the exam including vital stats, history, and reason for seeking care. Cross trains in data entry, balancing of accounts, charge fees and collect payments due Schedules/confirms appointments. Performs CLIA waived lab tests and obtains specimens, performs proficiency testing and runs controls for waived tests. May perform venipuncture. Qualifications: LPN Candidates Graduate of a practical or vocational nursing program High school or Equivalent Current, valid Arizona LPN license or compact state LPN/LVN license American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card MA Candidates High School or Equivalent American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card Must meet one of the following criteria: Has attended a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following: The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools; If your Medical Assistant program was not accredited by one of the above agencies, you will need to have a Medical Assistant Certification issued by one of the following. If you meet eligibility to take the exam, we will assist you in obtaining a CCMA certification. National Healthcareer Association: CCMA American Medical Technologist: RMA American Association of Medical Assistants: AAMA National Center for Competency Testing: NCMA American Medical Certification Association: CMAC Has completed a medical services training program of the Armed Forces of the United States Work Requirements: Must be able to distinguish appropriate colors, communicate using telephone, and able to consistently reach and/or work above and below shoulder level lifting up to 50 pounds. Capable of walking or being on feet 90% of time per day with frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, standing and sitting at desk 10% of the time per day. Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues and to chemicals, biological, and radioactive substances.
