    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">We’re looking for a </span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Senior SQL Database Administrator</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Located in the US or Bermuda</span>, the Senior SQL Database Administrator is responsible for the engineering, automation, performance, and reliability of the organization’s SQL Server platforms.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This role goes beyond traditional DBA operations and focuses on automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, self-healing platforms, and proactive performance engineering. The successful candidate will be a hands-on expert who builds scalable, secure, and highly available SQL environments across on-premises and cloud platforms.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This role reports to the SQL Database Manager.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you will do</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p>Database Engineering &amp; Operations</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design, deploy, and operate highly available and resilient SQL Server environments (Standalone, Failover Cluster Instances, Always On Availability Groups).</li>\n<li>Own the end-to-end lifecycle of SQL Server instances: build, patch, upgrade, decommission.</li>\n<li>Ensure database platforms meet availability, performance, security, and recoverability requirements.</li>\n<li>Act as a senior escalation point for complex database incidents and performance issues.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Automation &amp; Platform Engineering (Core Focus)</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design and implement automation-first DBA processes, minimizing manual intervention.</li>\n<li>Build and maintain automation using:</li>\n<li>PowerShell</li>\n<li>T-SQL</li>\n<li>CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent)\n<ul>\n<li>Automate:\n<ul>\n<li>SQL builds and configuration</li>\n<li>Patching and upgrades</li>\n<li>Backups, restores, and DR testing</li>\n<li>Monitoring, alerting, and health checks</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Implement Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, DSC where applicable) for database platforms.</li>\n<li>Promote “DBA as a service” capabilities for engineering teams.</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Performance, Tuning &amp; Reliability</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead advanced performance troubleshooting and query optimization.</li>\n<li>Analyze execution plans, wait statistics, and IO patterns.</li>\n<li>Design and implement indexing, partitioning, and data-growth strategies.</li>\n<li>Proactively identify and remediate performance and capacity risks.</li>\n<li>Support performance testing and release readiness for critical applications.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Security &amp; Compliance</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement and maintain SQL security best practices:\n<ul>\n<li>Least privilege access</li>\n<li>Encryption (TDE, TLS, Always Encrypted where applicable)</li>\n<li>Auditing and logging</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Support compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements (e.g. SOX, ISO 27001, internal security standards).</li>\n<li>Work closely with security teams to address vulnerabilities and hardening requirements.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Cloud &amp; Hybrid Platforms</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operate SQL Server across on-premises and cloud environments:\n<ul>\n<li>Azure SQL Managed Instance / Azure SQL DB</li>\n<li>SQL Server on Azure IaaS (VMs)</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Optimize cost, performance, and availability in cloud platforms.</li>\n<li>Support migration and modernization initiatives (on-prem → cloud, lift-and-shift, re-platform).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Collaboration &amp; Leadership</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Partner with application, data, and platform engineering teams to design database-friendly architectures.</li>\n<li>Provide guidance and mentoring to junior DBAs and engineers.</li>\n<li>Contribute to standards, patterns, and documentation for database engineering.</li>\n<li>Participate in architecture and design reviews for new systems.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you require for the role</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Essential</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extensive hands-on experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA in production environments.</li>\n<li>Deep expertise in:\n<ul>\n<li>SQL Server internals</li>\n<li>T-SQL development</li>\n<li>Performance tuning and troubleshooting</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Strong automation and scripting skills (PowerShell essential).</li>\n<li>Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for database and platform changes.</li>\n<li>Proven experience operating high-availability and disaster-recovery SQL solutions.</li>\n<li>Strong understanding of Windows Server and underlying infrastructure.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Desirable</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience with Azure SQL (Managed Instance, Azure SQL DB).</li>\n<li>Experience with Terraform, ARM, or Bicep for database infrastructure.</li>\n<li>Familiarity with monitoring platforms (e.g. Azure Monitor, SQL Sentry, Redgate, Prometheus).</li>\n<li>Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical platforms.</li>\n<li>Exposure to DevOps / SRE practices applied to data platforms.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Qualifications &amp;
