          "text": "<p>We are seeking an entry-level <strong>Environmental Scientist</strong> to join our growing environmental consulting team in the Pacific Northwest, based in the Seattle, Washington area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, entrepreneurial individual with a well-rounded skill set to launch their career in environmental consulting.</p><p>This is a full-time, remote position with a strong focus on fieldwork.</p><p>In this role, responsibilities will extend beyond field activities to include data management and interpretation, report preparation, permitting, and other consulting-related tasks. As the team continues to grow, successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop project management skills and gain exposure to the full lifecycle of environmental consulting projects.</p><p>The ideal candidate is a flexible, proactive, and strategic thinker who is comfortable handling a variety of tasks. This position offers hands-on experience working with Washington State environmental regulations, particularly those related to site investigation and cleanup programs.</p><p>As part of a growing and collaborative team, you will benefit from strong mentorship and development opportunities. With J.S. Held’s global footprint, there may also be opportunities to support projects beyond the Pacific Northwest.</p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities&#xa0;</strong></p><ul><li>Perform environmental site assessment activities (e.g., Phase I and Phase II ESA tasks)</li><li>Conduct field sampling as part of remedial investigations (soil, groundwater, soil gas, etc.)</li><li>Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including at times in remote field locations</li><li>Coordinate with vendors, analytical laboratories, and provide subcontractor oversight</li><li>Support environmental cleanup projects through data collection, data management, and evaluation of remedial technologies</li><li>Assist with due diligence assessments related to environmental liabilities</li><li>Evaluate environmental impacts of industrial, commercial, and residential activities for a diverse client base</li><li>Support the development and recommendation of remedial solutions that meet Washington State regulatory requirements and client objectives</li><li>Prepare technical reports, including:<ul><li>Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments</li><li>Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study (RI/FS) reports</li><li>Cleanup Action Plans and associated documentation</li></ul></li></ul>",

          "text": "<p><strong>Required</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geology, engineering, environmental science, or a related field</li><li>0–3+ years of relevant work experience</li><li>Experience supporting the implementation of remediation technologies, as well as operations and maintenance activities</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)</li><li>Highly motivated self-starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, as required</li><li>Valid driver’s license with a good driving record</li><li>Willingness to use a personal vehicle for work purposes (mileage reimbursed)</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with sampling techniques, including soil, groundwater, soil gas, indoor air, surface water, and sediment</li><li>40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification</li><li>Professional certifications or licenses (e.g., Engineer-in-Training, Geologist-in-Training, or Underground Storage Tank Site Assessor)</li><li>Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software</li></ul><p><strong> Physical and Mental Job Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Ability to travel as needed, depending on project assignments&#xa0;</li><li>Ability to work outside and support physical activities including light lifting (15 pounds), equipment and material loading and handling, and at times, in&#xa0;inclement weather.</li></ul>",
