They energetically serve the mission, vision and philosophy of Calvin Christian School. Christian School teachers find satisfaction in the passionate promotion of excellence in Christian education, helping to produce students that are prepared academically and with a robust biblical worldview. </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The Christian school pre-kindergarten teacher should have an early childhood certification (or a commitment to begin the process of becoming a certified teacher within 1 school year), and will be evaluated by the administration to be capable of giving effective instruction to students at the assigned grade and subject level and called of God to the Christian school teaching profession. </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Essential Duties</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">The following expectations for teachers at Calvin Christian School.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In faithful living one is expected to: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Be committed to obeying Christ, your Redeemer.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Have a regular and active devotional life.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Practice love, joy, patience, kindness, self-control, gentleness, faithfulness, and truthfulness.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Model biblical principles in making choices.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Be humble in spirit but bold in Christ-like practice.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Be conscientious and responsible.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In instructional planning one is expected to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">select and use curricular materials and plan teaching-learning experiences that help each student achieve the stated objectives.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">plan units that help students see wholeness and relevance in learning.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">plan lessons that connect biblical principles to concepts about God's world.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">plan a variety of teaching strategies to match the learning styles of the students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">choose content that helps students see the variety and the integrity of God's creation.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">select the means of assessment to measure students' learning for a lesson or unit.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In teaching a class one is expected to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">engage students' attention.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">listen carefully to students' ideas and apply them to the lesson.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">show interest and wonder in all learning.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">connect what students are learning to what they have already learned.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In relating with students one is expected to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">establish a climate of love and care.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">define responsible Christian behavior for students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">help students learn self-discipline through appropriate encouragement, correction, and counseling.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">help students support and learn from each other.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In professional growth one is expected to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">take responsibility for all tasks related to the classroom, parent communication, and, to some extent, the broader school community.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">keep current in scholarship on teaching, the purposes of Christian education, and your subject area.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">work constructively with colleagues and administration by contributing ideas and listening to the ideas of others.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">articulate in writing and speaking how your Christian faith integrates with your teaching.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">In community relations one is expected to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">communicate regularly with parents about their child's progress and needs.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">participate actively in the community, especially the church community.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">model love for Christ and students beyond the school day and campus.</span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Education</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Early childhood training required. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Bachelor's Degree preferred.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Required Spiritual Qualifications </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Must have and profess a personal and mature commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and affirm the school’s statement of faith/basis of instruction and mission statement. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Must believe, without reservation, and actively support the school’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and mission statement; possess a strong, clear Christian testimony; demonstrate a mature, godly spirit as a person of faith and prayer.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Supervisory Responsibility</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">None.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Required Hours</span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Monday through Friday 7:45am to 3:30pm, 40 hours per week (or mornings, if part-time).  Additional hours as needed for special programs and student progress conferences.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">Pay &amp; Benefits</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">This position is salary based and is eligible for benefits based on contract percentage (403b, Self Care Time, Health and Vision).
