Description
American Iron & Metal (AIM) is a family-owned company and recognized global leader in the metal recycling industry with more than 125 sites and 4000 employees worldwide. We have continued to prosper for the last eight decades thanks to the dedication of our employees and the ongoing trust and support of our customers.
Become part of team AIM , a growing team with an entrepreneurial spirit who has over the years evolved into a successful and multifaceted company with business divisions that include metal recycling, decommissioning and demolition, auto-parts sales and recycling, manufacturing of solder assemblies, construction waste recycling, and production of customized industrial and mining products.
We take pride in doing good things for the environment to help create a greener, more sustainable future for all.
It’s simple; we do it right. We AIM for excellence.
As the Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental programs across the Recycling and Kenny U-Pull divisions. Reporting to the Director of Environment, you will ensure environmental requirements are understood and applied at all levels of the organization through a hands-on approach.
You will be required to travel regularly to sites in Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick—approximately one week per month.
What you’re responsible for:
Assisting in the preparation, data collection, tracking, and maintenance of environmental permits, documentation, and regulatory records in coordination with internal teams and external consultants. Providing administrative and coordination support for environmental projects (e.g., sampling events, remediation work, site environmental controls, etc.). Helping ensure site compliance by performing inspections, collecting relevant data, finding solutions and communicating follow-up actions. Collaborating with environmental technician, operations, engineering, and other internal teams to ensure daily compliance with environmental requirements. Updating databases, preparing yearly emission reports, aiding in any emergency reporting or any other required reporting. Developing and updating environmental procedures and SOPs, while supporting their rollout across sites. Preparing and providing training and awareness sessions, including procedure rollouts and toolbox talks.
To join our team:
You have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. You have 2–5 years of experience in environmental compliance or program support (experience in recycling or industrial settings is an asset). You have knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting (air and water focus is an asset). You have demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage tasks independently. You are proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based systems. You have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in French and English (bilingual)
What we offer!
A competitive wage, vacation, benefits and a RRSP matching program Annual AIM tuition scholarship program up to $8,500 per eligible dependents The tools and support needed to be successful in your career and professional development A dynamic & rewarding work environment that is also a lot of fun!
