As a Climate and Energy Campaigner , you will work within the Climate and Energy Unit to support evidence-based advocacy and campaign development on climate and energy issues in Indonesia. The primary objective of this role is to monitor, analyze, and synthesize developments related to energy transition in Indonesia, including policy, regulatory, technical, and political dynamics influenced by both domestic and international contexts. The Researcher will provide timely analysis, briefings, and written outputs to inform campaign strategies, public engagement, and organizational decision-making. The role works in close coordination with national, regional, and global Climate and Energy teams, as well as with other program units.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Monitor and analyze climate and energy policy developments in Indonesia, including energy transition pathways, power sector reform, fossil fuel phase-out, and renewable energy deployment.
Track and assess relevant international developments and geopolitical dynamics that may
influence Indonesia’s climate and energy policies.
Provide policy and technical analysis to support the design, development, and refinement of Climate and Energy campaign strategies.
Develop research plans, methodologies, and guidelines to ensure a consistent and reliable process for data and information gathering.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of climate, energy, and transition-related technical information, and translate complex issues into clear and accessible insights.
Produce concise research outputs, including policy briefs, short analyses, issue summaries, and key talking points related to climate and energy issues.
Support the Climate & Energy Campaign Manager and campaign teams by providing evidence-based inputs for advocacy, communications, and engagement activities.
Compile, organize, and disseminate research findings to strengthen the campaign’s information base.
Coordinate research inputs with regional and global teams to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and narratives.
Work closely with Climate and Energy campaigners and other program units to ensure research outputs are timely, relevant, and aligned with campaign needs.
Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing by documenting findings, lessons learned, and emerging trends related to climate and energy.
Support coordination of information flow with Greenpeace International and relevant regional teams.
Maintain constructive engagement with researchers, academics, policy experts, civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders as needed for research purposes.
Monitor and utilize credible external sources, studies, and datasets to strengthen analytical outputs.
Deliver research outputs in line with campaign timelines, evolving policy processes, and emerging political or regulatory developments.
Provide timely analysis and insights to support rapid response needs and strategic decision-making.
Ensure accuracy, clarity, and analytical rigor in all research and written outputs.
Contribute to continuous improvement of research quality through peer review, learning, and application of best practices.
Ensure all research activities comply with organizational policies and ethical standards.
Requirements :
Educational Background & Fundamental Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in public policy, economics, environmental studies, energy studies, political science, or related fields.
At least 2 years’ experience in an environmental/activist organization (work on climate and energy issues is preferred) and proven experience in directing a project from conception to completion.
Experience producing written analytical outputs such as briefs, reports, or policy notes.
Competencies and Skills

Written Communication: Proven ability to write clear, concise, and structured briefs and summaries in English.

Strong understanding of climate change, energy transition, and power sector issues in Indonesia.

Experience working with data, reports, and policy documents from government and international sources is an advantage.
