Position Summary:
BHA Academy is seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated Paraprofessionals to support students with developmental disabilities and significant behavioral challenges in a structured educational setting. This role plays an essential part in helping students succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially through individualized support, evidence-based interventions, and close collaboration with teachers and clinical staff. Paraprofessionals help create a safe, respectful, and consistent learning environment while promoting student growth and independence.
Sign-On Bonus:
$1,000 total sign-on bonus -- $500 paid after 90 days of employment. Additional $500 paid after 180 days, based on continued employment in good standing Pay Rate:
Our compensation is competitive within the market. The starting rate for this position begins at $17.50 per hour, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications. What You’ll Do:
Build positive, respectful relationships with students while supporting dignity, safety, and high expectations. Provide direct classroom support using evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Assist with implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and skill-building programs. Support students during transitions, classroom instruction, related services, and community-based activities. Collect and document accurate data on student progress, behavior goals, and daily notes. Support students with personal care needs including toileting, hygiene, feeding, and mobility assistance as needed. Maintain classroom structure, visual supports, organization, and readiness for learning. Assist with crisis prevention and response procedures following safety plans and required training. Administer medications and complete required documentation as trained and authorized. Collaborate closely with teachers, behavior clinicians, therapists, and fellow paraprofessionals. Provide floating support across classrooms or student groups as needed. Participate in team meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development. What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required College coursework in education, psychology, or related field preferred No direct experience required; one year of related experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to remain calm, professional, and emotionally regulated in high-pressure situations Ability to safely support and supervise students throughout the school day Willingness to complete and implement crisis intervention and de-escalation training Ability to administer medications safely as trained Commitment to teamwork, student advocacy, and creating a positive learning environment Benefits:
