Description
Tlingit Haida Regional Housing Authority (THRHA) is seeking a capable and motivated Accountant II to support key accounting functions, including account reconciliations, general ledger activity, and timely financial reporting. In this role, you’ll help strengthen the accuracy and reliability of THRHA’s overall operations while continuing to build your expertise in a collaborative team environment.

THE ROLE
As an Accountant II, you’ll play a key role in maintaining accurate and organized accounting records while supporting essential reporting and analysis across the organization. In this role, you will:
Perform account reconciliations, maintain balance sheet schedules, and ensure accuracy between subsidiary ledgers and the general ledger. Prepare and post journal entries, monthly allocations, and other adjustments that support clear and accurate financial activity. Compile timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, research accounting standards as needed, and assist program managers with financial status updates. Support audit preparation and contribute to ongoing improvements in accounting practices, reporting processes, and internal documentation. WHO YOU ARE

A strong understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger processes. Proficiency with accounting systems, Excel, and automated financial tools to analyze, track, and organize complex information. The ability to identify discrepancies, correct inaccuracies, and maintain complete and confidential accounting records. Clear communication skills that support effective collaboration with program managers, colleagues, and external partners. An analytical mindset with the ability to research accounting standards, interpret financial data, and provide meaningful insights. Minimum requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred. Four years of accounting experience required. Valid driver’s license. WHAT WE OFFER
Pay (Grade 13): $34.03 - $44.25per hour/$66,359 - $86,282 annually DOE Comprehensive Health Benefits , including medical and pharmacy coverage, plus dental and vision insurance. Retirement Program including Alaska PERS participation starting at the date of hire. Optional Supplemental Coverage , including AFLAC voluntary plans, Flex Spending Accounts (FSA), Dependent Care Account (DCA), and 403(b) retirement savings options. Paid Time Off (PTO) with increased accrual based on years of service 13 Paid Holidays Professional Development Opportunities including paid job-related training, seminars, and educational assistance for approved programs.
