We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join our team focused on <em>Delivering Solutions and Improving Lives</em>.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The Special Inspector conducts field observation, QA/QC and testing services during construction phases of a project as well as materials testing to ensure constructed projects meet the project plan specifications. The Special Inspector is a position requiring the ability to work independently under the general supervision of the Project Manager or Project Engineer.</p>\n<p>Responsibilities:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Observes construction activities and performs testing and measurements with the direction of supervisory technician, project manager or project engineer.</li>\n <li>Observes work for conformance with the approved design drawings and specifications, and other approved documents.</li>\n <li>Furnishes inspection reports; upon approval of the project manager and when requested, to the building official, the engineer or architect of record, and other designated persons.</li>\n <li>Notifies contractor, supervisor, and/or project manager of problems and deviations from plans and specifications.</li>\n <li>Perform field testing of soil, concrete, masonry, asphalt, fireproofing and structural steel associated with civil engineering construction projects including ASTM, AASHTO requirements.</li>\n <li>Notifies supervisor, and/or project manager of problems and deviations from plans and specifications.</li>\n <li>Complete and comprehensive communication with project personnel to ensure the effective management of the project.</li>\n <li>Perform field inspection, testing and sampling as needed.</li>\n <li>Ability to make good decisions using sound, professional judgment with minimal supervision.</li>\n <li>Physical ability to perform labor-intensive work including but not limited the safe handling and transport of concrete samples, soil samples, and other lab related materials.</li>\n <li>Communicates and interfaces effectively with clients and co-workers.</li>\n <li>Possesses effective written, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team involving staff, clients and outside agencies.</li>\n <li>Provides complete and comprehensive communication with project management and other technicians to ensure the effective management of the project.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Education/Qualifications:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.</li>\n  <li>Experience with ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures.</li>\n  <li>Ability to follow direction, procedures and learn repetitive tasks.</li>\n  <li>Driver's License and insurable driving record</li>\n </ul>\n <li>Certifications/Licenses:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Preferred: Nuclear Gauge Cert; ACI; ICC; NJ DCA</li>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Compensation: $20.00 – 35.00 per hourBase pay offered for this New York based role may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate.
