Position Summary The Director of Communications leads the strategy, systems, and congregational communication and the community at large . This role is responsible for strengthening organizational clarity, ensuring consistent messaging across ministries and platforms, and building scalable communication systems that support continued church growth and future multi-campus ministry. This leader will serve as both a strategic thinker and hands-on contributor who can lead projects, build effective systems, collaborate across teams, and execute high-quality communication initiatives with excellence. Primary Position Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and lead churchwide communication strategies aligned with ministry priorities and organizational vision. Build scalable communication systems, workflows, and standards that strengthen organizational effectiveness. Ensure consistency of messaging, branding, voice, and storytelling across all communication channels. Evaluate communication effectiveness and recommend improvements through analytics, feedback, and innovation. Project Leadership and Execution Lead communication planning and execution for churchwide events, ministry initiatives, campaigns, and seasonal emphasis periods. Manage project timelines, approvals, priorities, and communication workflows across multiple projects. Contribute to communication deliverables including website content, email campaigns, copywriting, and digital communications. Ensure communication projects are completed with excellence, accuracy, and timeliness. Team Collaboration Partner with ministry leaders and staff to develop effective communication strategies and plans. Build collaborative relationships across departments and support alignment of communication efforts. Equip ministries with communication tools, templates, and best practices. Communications Channels Oversee website, email, social media, and digital communication platforms. Guide the development of engaging written and visual content for attenders, guests, and the community. Champion storytelling that communicates life change, ministry impact, and the mission of the church. Maintain high standards of creativity, consistency, and excellence across communication platforms. Candidate Criteria Demonstrates a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Aligns fully with the theology, mission, and values of Grace Fellowship Church. Committed to living out the staff values and culture of Grace Fellowship Church. Willing to become an active and engaged member of Grace Fellowship Church. Strong strategic thinking and project management skills. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities. Strong understanding of branding, messaging, audience engagement, and digital communication systems. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and lead through relationships. Demonstrates humility, professionalism, emotional maturity, and teachability. Strategic thinker with a builder’s mindset and strong initiative. Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-capacity environment. Team-oriented, collaborative, and solutions-focused. Passionate about the mission of the local church. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, branding, or creative leadership. Experience leading communication strategy and execution within a growing organization; church or nonprofit experience preferred. Experience managing projects, workflows, and multiple priorities simultaneously. Success Outcomes Within 6 Months Establish effective communication workflows, planning processes, and ministry support systems. Improve consistency of messaging, branding, and communication standards across ministries. Strengthen coordination and execution for churchwide communication initiatives and events. Within 12–18 Months Implement scalable communication systems that support continued church growth and future multi-campus ministry. Improve communication effectiveness and clarity across digital and in-person platforms. Strengthen storytelling and communication strategies that clearly communicate mission impact and life change. Become a trusted communication partner to ministry leaders and organizational leadership. Working Hours and Conditions Business Hours/Exceptions This position is full time with various hours, including evenings and weekends as required by ministry needs. Additional hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required during designated all-church events, including Christmas, Easter, and Fall Launch. Working Environment Church office and worship environments; fast paced, team-oriented ministry setting Travel Requirements Occasional offsite meetings and periodic travel for training, conferences, professional development, or multi-campus support may be required.
