Description

Position Summary The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is seeking a Temporary Building Engineer who will be responsible for daily maintenance and repair of all building systems and equipment, as well as managing the maintenance of the facilities' overall appearance. This will include hands on maintenance and repair work on HVAC, boiler, heating, refrigeration, water, energy systems, and more. The Temporary Building Engineer will report to the Associate Vice President of Facilities, Events and Security Management. This is a full-time on-site temporary position expected to last for 6 months, with the possibility of extension. The standard work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Applicants should have the ability to work flexible and periodic long hours, including some holidays. Essential Functions/Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems including, but not limited to: HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection, Monitor daily building operations to ensure facilities are functioning efficiently and safely, Assist external contractors and vendors on building maintenance, repairs, and operational projects, Assist with operational and capital construction and maintenance projects under the guidance of the Associate Vice President of Facilities, Events and Security Management, Complete work orders for a variety of assignments, including carpentry, painting, plastering, furniture set-ups, office relocations, inventory, and specialized cleaning projects, Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required. Minimum Qualifications Education Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred Experience A minimum of 10 years of related building operations and maintenance experience, preferably in a high-profile, owner-owned property of architectural significance, Experience and proven familiarity with the operation, maintenance and basic repair of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems, including boilers, elevator systems, cooling towers, pumps and water/plumbing systems, Strong proficiency in automatic temperature controls and building management systems. Related Skills & Other Requirements Strong verbal and written communication skills, Excellent customer service, Ability to work collaboratively as a team, with the highest level of dependability and professionalism, Proficiency in Microsoft office, Ability to lift and carry weight up to 70 pounds (i.e. packages, office furniture, etc.) Required Application Materials Please submit a résumé.
