Description

Description Compensation: $30.27 - $49.77 / hour (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements.) Schedule : This is a generalist position in hematology, blood bank and chemistry. 7am-3pm shift with every 3rd weekend and holiday coverage commitment. The Impact You Can Make As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, you are the unseen engine behind our hospital's critical medical decisions. Working in our high-complexity diagnostic lab, you will perform, analyze, and validate vital laboratory testing across biochemical, blood bank, hematology, microbiology, and urinalysis disciplines. Your precision, speed, and analytical expertise directly provide physicians with the objective data required to accurately diagnose and save patient lives every day. Why Join the Glens Falls Hospital Lab? Comprehensive Generalist Scope: Maintain and sharpen an expansive, diverse clinical skillset by rotating through multiple laboratory specialties rather than being restricted to a single bench. Professional Growth & Leadership : Expand your resume through opportunities to mentor incoming technical staff, evaluate emerging laboratory methodologies, and supervise 2-3 clinical support team members. A Dedicated Community Culture : Work alongside a tight-knit, highly collaborative team of pathologists, technologists, and phlebotomists inside an ANCC Magnet® Recognized institution. How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities) Diagnostic Testing & Analysis Conduct high-complexity clinical testing on patient specimen samples according to provider orders, accurately identifying normal and abnormal components. Efficiently utilize the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to document and report test results in strict compliance with NYSDOH regulations. Follow standard safety precautions and department protocols; occasionally assist with high-quality phlebotomy and age-specific specimen processing as needed. Quality Control & Instrument Precision Run and evaluate daily quality control (QC) testing to guarantee flawless accuracy of clinical data, proactively initiating standard operating procedures (SOPs) when QC boundaries are exceeded. Monitor, calibrate, and verify complex laboratory instrumentation function, meticulously documenting routine preventive maintenance (PM), component replacements, and technical repairs. Actively participate in laboratory proficiency testing activities and help evaluate new methodologies for precision. Critical Communication & Collaboration Immediately identify and execute mandatory notifications for "Critical Test Values," communicating precisely and swiftly with physicians, clinic offices, and nursing units. Collaborate closely with supervisors, pathologists, and interdisciplinary hospital staff regarding blood bank and tissue services. Help onboard, train, and orient incoming technical staff on standard operating procedures. What You Bring (Qualifications) Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology, or a BS in a biological, chemical, or physical science that meets the NYSDOH Part 58 educational requirements. Licensure : Active, valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is required . Certifications : ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) registration or equivalent national certification is highly preferred. Core Capabilities : Strong technical troubleshooting skills for lab automation, ease with computerized medical applications, and the ability to communicate technical diagnostic parameters clearly to medical personnel under pressure.
