This position involves hands-on maintenance and care of the greens, fairways, roughs, and other landscape areas. The Turf Technician works under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent, assisting with agronomic practices such as mowing, fertilizing, irrigating, and pest control. Attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and knowledge of turf care practices are essential for this role.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><p>&bull;Mow greens, fairways, tees, roughs, and other turf areas using a variety of specialized turf equipment.</p><p>&bull;Perform edging and trimming around bunkers, greens, tees, and landscape features to maintain clean lines and a polished appearance.</p><p>&bull;Assist in topdressing, aeration, and overseeding of turf areas to promote healthy grass growth and soil conditions.</p><p>&bull;Apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other turf care products as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.</p><p>&bull;Ensure proper application rates and timing for optimal turf health and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.</p><p>&bull;Monitor turf areas for signs of pests, diseases, or other stress factors and report issues promptly to the supervisory team.</p><p>&bull;Assist with the operation and maintenance of the golf course&rsquo;s irrigation system, ensuring that turf receives the appropriate amount of water for optimal growth.</p><p>&bull;Inspect irrigation systems regularly for leaks, broken heads, or other issues, and make necessary repairs or adjustments.</p><p>&bull;Monitor soil moisture levels and report any areas of concern to supervisors to prevent overwatering or drought stress.</p><p>&bull;Help with daily course setup tasks, including changing hole locations, moving tee markers, and checking sand bunkers for playability.</p><p>&bull;Ensure that all course setup tasks are completed to provide an optimal playing experience for golfers.</p><p>&bull;Maintain bunker rakes, ball washers, and other course accessories to ensure they are in good condition and available to golfers.</p><p>&bull;Operate turf maintenance equipment, including mowers, utility vehicles, aerators, and other specialized tools, following all safety protocols.</p><p>&bull;Perform basic maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning, greasing, and sharpening blades, and report any mechanical issues to the Equipment Manager.</p><p>&bull;Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.</p><p>&bull; Assist in maintaining landscape areas such as flower beds, trees, and shrubs around the course.</p><p>&bull;Perform tasks such as mulching, pruning, and planting to enhance the course&rsquo;s overall appearance.</p><p>&bull;Help control weeds and other invasive species in landscape and natural areas.</p><p>&bull;Follow all environmental and safety regulations related to chemical applications, irrigation, and waste management.</p><p>&bull;Use sustainable turf management practices to conserve resources such as water and fertilizers and minimize the environmental impact of maintenance activities.</p><p>&bull;Work closely with the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and other grounds staff to ensure smooth coordination of maintenance tasks.</p><p>&bull;Report any issues or concerns about the course condition or equipment to supervisors in a timely manner.</p><p>&bull;Provide input or suggestions for improving course conditions or maintenance efficiency.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><p>&bull;High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in turf management, horticulture, or a related field is a plus.</p><p>&bull;Experience working on a golf course or in turf management is preferred but not required.</p><p>&bull;Knowledge of turfgrass species, diseases, pests, and proper care techniques.</p><p>&bull;Basic understanding of irrigation systems and maintenance practices.</p><p>&bull;Ability to operate a variety of turf maintenance equipment, with attention to safety protocols.</p><p>&bull;Pesticide Applicator&rsquo;s License or the ability to obtain one may be required for some positions.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Physical Demands:</strong></p><p>&bull;Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.</p><p>&bull;Physical strength and stamina to perform manual labor tasks such as lifting (up to 50 pounds), bending, crouching, and walking for extended periods.</p><p>&bull;Ability to operate machinery and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.</p></div></div>\n",
