The position covers two weeks of camp.</p>\n\n<p>Camp Beyond Binary start date session one: Saturday, August 1 and session two: Saturday, August 8</p>\n\n<p>Job&nbsp;Summary:&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>The&nbsp;Resident&nbsp;Camp Counselor&nbsp;(Counselor)&nbsp;is responsible for&nbsp;acting as the primary caregiver for their assigned unit campers, including ensuring a safe and healthy environment is&nbsp;maintained,&nbsp;supervising camper&nbsp;behavior,&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;and managing hazards,&nbsp;and promoting&nbsp;mission and values of Beyond, by example.&nbsp;The Counselor&nbsp;is responsible for&nbsp;planning and leading the session(s) activities, with input from campers, and ensuring&nbsp;scheduled content occurs&nbsp;The&nbsp;counselor will&nbsp;assist&nbsp;other staff in&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;activities at program areas such as,&nbsp;but not limited to,&nbsp;swimming and boating.&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>Essential&nbsp;Job&nbsp;Duties&nbsp;and&nbsp;Responsibilities:&nbsp;(Additional&nbsp;duties&nbsp;may&nbsp;be&nbsp;assigned)&nbsp;</p>\n\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Assist&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;direction,&nbsp;supervision,&nbsp;and&nbsp;organization&nbsp;of&nbsp;campers&nbsp;in&nbsp;their&nbsp;unit,&nbsp;during&nbsp;all unit times, which includes meals, all-camp activities, activities at program areas, and transition times.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Apply basic principles of youth development, connect with the campers, and work with campers&nbsp;to&nbsp;create&nbsp;positive&nbsp;and&nbsp;meaningful&nbsp;relationships&nbsp;utilizing&nbsp;communication,&nbsp;respect&nbsp;and empowerment.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Act&nbsp;as a positive&nbsp;role model&nbsp;for&nbsp;campers.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Take&nbsp;an&nbsp;active&nbsp;role&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;camp&nbsp;community&nbsp;by&nbsp;participating&nbsp;enthusiastically&nbsp;in&nbsp;all&nbsp;aspects of camp.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Strive&nbsp;to&nbsp;provide&nbsp;a&nbsp;fun,&nbsp;exciting,&nbsp;and&nbsp;inviting&nbsp;atmosphere&nbsp;for&nbsp;all&nbsp;campers.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Practice confidentiality and utmost discretion with knowledge of camper medical history.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Honor and respect camper and staff name and pronouns(s) as important contributing factors to overall positive mental well-being.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Maintain campers&rsquo; overall health and safety while at camp, alerting the&nbsp;Beyond&nbsp;Director and Health Supervisor&nbsp;and/or Wellness Supervisor&nbsp;of&nbsp;any&nbsp;issues,&nbsp;and ensuring each campers&rsquo;&nbsp;personal&nbsp;health and hygiene needs are met.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Follow&nbsp;all&nbsp;safety&nbsp;procedures&nbsp;and camp&nbsp;rules, including New York Department of Health, Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints, and American Camp Association Standards.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Interact&nbsp;with&nbsp;campers&rsquo;&nbsp;parents,&nbsp;utilizing&nbsp;strong&nbsp;customer&nbsp;service&nbsp;skills&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;good rapport.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Work&nbsp;cooperatively&nbsp;with fellow&nbsp;staff&nbsp;members&nbsp;to ensure a positive camp&nbsp;environment&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Assist&nbsp;with check-in and check-out&nbsp;procedures.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Ensure&nbsp;cabins and tents,&nbsp;bathrooms,&nbsp;dining hall, chill zone, quiet room,&nbsp;and common program areas are clean and ready&nbsp;for&nbsp;the next camp session.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Assist&nbsp;with&nbsp;weekly&nbsp;camp&nbsp;clean&nbsp;up,&nbsp;including&nbsp;sweeping,&nbsp;mopping,&nbsp;sanitizing,&nbsp;trash&nbsp;pick- up, etc.&nbsp;</p>\n\t</li>\n</ul>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>\n\t<p>Model self-care among campers and staff.
