You will apply fundamental engineering principles to size, evaluate, select, and specify mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other building or industrial systems for assigned projects.</p>\n<p>You will perform a range of tasks, including conducting site or field investigations, preparing design calculations, supporting equipment and product research, and assisting with the development of design drawings and specifications.</p>\n<p><strong>Your Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Prepare contract drawings, schematics, schedules, details, and sketches from conceptual design through to construction.</li>\n <li>Assist in the design of building related mechanical systems including HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems using applicable codes, standards, and reference materials.</li>\n <li>Review equipment selections, perform preliminary engineering calculations, and develop preliminary designs.</li>\n <li>Produce aspects of mechanical design and drawings in REVIT, as well as in AutoCAD.</li>\n <li>Follow production guidelines and project standards in the department drafting standards manual.</li>\n <li>Work closely with the Mechanical Engineer and engineering group in recommending the best use of project tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with the project tools.</li>\n <li>Ensure the assurance of quality, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.</li>\n <li>Assist with periodic field reviews of construction and construction administration tasks (conduct shop drawing reviews, respond to RFIs, prepare documentation for site instructions or change requests).</li>\n <li>Perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews and as-built drawings.</li>\n <li>Performs thorough quality control of construction documents.</li>\n <li>Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.</li>\n <li>Communicate with other team members and become familiar with Stantec standards to complete assignments and projects in a timely manner as required.</li>\n <li>Understand and execute and/or direct work within Stantec's quality control guidelines.</li>\n <li>Comply with Stantec's HSSE program, with a focus on safety in the field.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Your Capabilities and Credentials</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team.</li>\n <li>Ability to work with others on large complex projects.</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently with engineering supervision on small projects.</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with colleagues and staff; a “team player” approach.</li>\n <li>Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.</li>\n <li>Good understanding of building mechanical system concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.</li>\n <li>Knowledge or familiarity with National Building Code, National Plumbing Code, National Fire Codes, National Energy Code, and local amendments/supplements to these documents.</li>\n <li>Knowledge or familiarity with LEED standards, ASHRAE, ASPE and NFPA would be considered an asset.</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.</li>\n <li>Self-motivated and self-starter with a strong work ethic.</li>\n <li>Good time management skills and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
