This position is required to operate a city vehicle and is considered a safety-sensitive position.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Essential Job Functions:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Arrests and processes offenders with outstanding warrants</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Responds to calls for service as directed by the dispatcher or supervisors</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Conducts preliminary and entire investigations of offenses</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Response to crimes in progress dispatched and observed</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Enforces traffic laws including stopping vehicles, writing citations, making arrests, </span>conducting field sobriety tests, obtaining wreckers, and completing necessary reports</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Collects and preserves evidence at crime scenes and traffic accidents</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Investigates traffic accidents</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Prepares reports as required including offense, supplemental, DWI, arrest, and juvenile</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Patrols the city for observed violations of criminal and traffic laws</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Directs traffic at accidents, fires, emergencies, and disasters</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Makes arrests in accordance with current laws and department policy</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Ability to carry on one’s person, as well as the ability and skill to operate equipment such </span>as a handgun (must be able to shoot, reload, and maintain this weapon), handcuffs, flashlight, chemical irritant spray, and baton</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">Valid Texas Driver’s License</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: 16px\">No felony convictions and no convictions for offenses involving moral turpitude</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial;
