    "description": "<h2>Department Overview</h2>\n<p>OHSU Oncology Float Pool nurses provide high-quality, innovative and compassionate family-centered nursing care. Oncology Float Pool nurses support acute care units for selected planned and unplanned absences and for other staffing deficits.  Oncology Float Pool nurses also staff overflow areas as patient care needs arise.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>This position also comes with great benefits! Covered at 100% of the cost for full-time employees and 88% for dependents.</li>\n <li>$50K of term life insurance provided at no cost to the employee</li>\n <li>Two separate above market pension plans to choose from</li>\n <li>Vacation - 192 to 288 hours per year depending on length of service, prorated for part-time</li>\n <li>Holidays - up to 64 holiday hours per calendar year (employees accrue .0308 holiday hours for each hour paid – included in vacation accruals)</li>\n <li>Sick Leave - 96 hours per year, prorated for part-time</li>\n <li>Substantial public transportation discounts (Tri-met and C-Tran)</li>\n <li>Tuition Reimbursement</li>\n <li>Innovative Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including extensive wellness resources</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Function/Duties of Position</h2>\n<p>Department-Specific Working Conditions: </p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Float to a variety of assigned units</strong>; sufficient time management, flexibility, and prioritization skills to float up to every 4 hours if necessary</li>\n <li>Required to keep up to date with departmental communications by e-mail and mailbox since there is no physical location for the “home” unit</li>\n <li>Self-reflective, self-directed learner who achieves progressive growth</li>\n <li>Identify gaps in knowledge and initiate seeking resources to identify and manage risks, practicing safely with a wide variety of patient populations</li>\n <li>Able to advance plan of care when there is a lack of continuity of patient assignments</li>\n <li>Excellent time management</li>\n <li>Speaking up about questionable assignments, identifying alternatives</li>\n <li>Inquiring about performance improvement changes</li>\n <li>Actively participating in huddles</li>\n <li>Helping secure break coverage for self and others</li>\n <li>Seeking resources to support completion of work when going to float to another unit within shift</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<h2>Required Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>2 years recent acute care RN experience in a high-acuity acute care setting</li>\n <li><p>The RN must meet <strong><em>one</em></strong> oncology provider qualification:</p><p>1. ONS Chemotherapy/ Biotherapy provider card upon hire.</p><p>2. Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative Systemic Cancer Therapies for the Oncology Nurse course.</p><p>3. Oregon Health and Science University NCI Collaborative 2-year renewal course.</p><p>The RN must hold <strong><em>one</em></strong> Professional certification <strong><em>or</em></strong> meet Commission on Cancer education requirements:</p><p>1. Current cancer-specific certification in the nurse’s specialty (OCN, BMTCN, etc.) by an accredited certification program.</p><p>2. Completion of 18 cancer-related continuing education nursing contact hours each accreditation cycle, per Commission on Cancer requirements.</p></li>\n <li>BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.</li>\n <li>ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date. </li>\n <li>Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire</li>\n <li>Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License</li>\n <li>BLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation.</li>\n <li>Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>5 years acute care RN experience in a high-acuity acute care setting</li>\n <li>Med-Surg specialty certification or other applicable acute care specialty certification</li>\n <li>Experience in a float pool</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Additional Details</h2>\n<p>Length of Orientation – Experienced Nurse</p>\n<ul>\n <li>External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.</li>\n <li>Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area.
