Description
Description
Dr. Blair's lab has demonstrated that molecular chaperones are key regulators of protein homeostasis. There are approximately 150 chaperones in humans, and we speculate that each of these could be a drug target for human diseases. Currently, our group is involved in drug development and target validation for the chaperone proteins in neuropsychiatric disorders including, PTSD and Alzheimer’s disease.
We are looking for an ambitious post-doctoral candidate. Skill sets that we are particularly interested in are: 1) molecular chaperone biology, 2) mouse models, and 3) neurobiology.
Responsibilities
A successful applicant must be dedicated, responsible, detail-oriented, well-organized, efficient, and communicate clearly with other postdocs, graduate students, and research technicians.
Position also requires excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, practiced documentation skills, and ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in a professional manner.
Ability to work independently and as a team, set priorities and manage time effectively despite unanticipated interruptions. Willingness to adjust to changes in the workload and change focus as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or MD. Ph.D. in a related field from an accredited institution. Must meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Postdoctoral Fellow.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with murine studies (treatment, behavior, brain tissue processing), antisense oligonucleotide technology, and cell biology experiments.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biological or Biomedical Sciences and a strong background in experimental neurobiology.
