font-weight: bold\">FLSA Status: Exempt</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\">Job Description</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">The Superintendent is a field-based position that actively participates in and coordinates work on railroad construction and design build projects, supervises the field crew and is responsible for the completion of all projects in a safe and timely manner while utilizing the highest quality of workmanship and meeting budgetary expectations. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\"> </span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">THIS POSITION IS FIELD BASED AND DOES NOT HAVE TO RESIDE IN LOCATION OF JOB POSTING</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\">Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Plans work activities with Project Manager to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Reviews all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Plans the day-to-day operations on assigned project and ensures that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment and material.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company policies and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Plans, schedules and manages crews comprised of 20-25 employees including foremen, operators and laborers. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Supervises work and complies with the FRA track safety standards and Roadway Worker Safety Rules.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Conducts daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from the workers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Maintains a dedication to safety at all times by modeling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Make sure the proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Communicates with customer and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ensures crew member time sheets are properly submitted.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Unloads and spreads all ties, spikes and associated OTM.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Changes out ties and/or switch timbers as marked by the owner and in accordance with project specifications.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Gauges track along the tie change-out area as directed by the owner and contract specifications.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\">Overall coordination of the crew including:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Coordinating and scheduling crew members to be at the site at the desired time.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Setting up hotel rooms for crew members.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Fueling of machines prior to each shift and or as necessary.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ensuring the operators provide walk around forms as directed for Roadway Maintenance Machines.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ensure that equipment is operated properly to mitigate damage.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ensuring the overall safety, quality and production of the gang.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance with mechanic to keep equipment operating efficiently.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Communicates with contractors or sub-contractors to coordinate work, goals, etc.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Operates Company vehicle, CDL/Medical Card preferred. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-weight: bold\">Qualifications Needed:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">5+ years of experience in railroad construction.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Extensive experience in supervising and managing railroad tie gang operations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Must qualify in track inspection as required by FRA.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance including track, turnout and crossing construction, tie and rail replacement, track surfacing and thermite welding.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Previous supervision of projects.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to train and motivate workers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to read and understand project specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to oversee the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Strong client relation skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to understand and expertly carry out instructions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to keep records and to prepare production reports, time sheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders and updating project files.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Ability to perform other administrative and/or project-based duties as assigned.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Must be able to travel 90-100%</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Basic computer and mobile device proficiency.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Independent starter and must be Self-motivated with good communication skills</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif\">Work outdoors in inclement weather</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;
