Description

Overview Willow Valley Communities is hiring a PRN (as-needed) Physical Therapist Assistant to organize and administer medically prescribed Physical Therapy programming in all levels of living, under the direction of and as an assistant to a Physical Therapist, for patients with chronic or acute injuries, muscle, nerve, joint or bone diseases, to increase function, relieve pain, prevent disability and improve quality of living. Opportunities with WVC: In-House Therapy TM Events and Recognition Continued career growth and education opportunities, such as extensive dementia training by our very own Memory Care Educator Wage: PRN/Pool $34.00/hour Responsibilities: Models exemplary customer service and models care, compassion and trust toward Team Members and Residents. Administers active and passive manual therapeutic treatments including heat, light, sound, water, and electrical or physical agent modality treatments such as but not limited to ultrasound, electrical stimulation, ultraviolet, infrared, diathermy, and hot and cold packs to improve and maintain function. Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain. Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities such as preambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities. Observes patients’ performance during treatments and compiles and evaluates data on patients' carryover and physical responses to treatments and progress, and reports findings orally or in writing to Physical Therapist. Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in use and care of orthopedic braces, and prostheses. Instructs, motivates, and assists patient to perform various postural and mobility related physical activities and in use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and prostheses. Confers with members of physical therapy staff and other interdisciplinary team members, individually and in conference, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Records treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart. Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be continued at home, if indicated. Assists with requisitions supplies and equipment. Assists in conducting in-services to staff in physical therapy techniques and objectives. Gives orientation to new Physical Therapist Assistants and assists in providing direction to Physical Therapy Students and Aides. Assists in planning and conducting in-services and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for nursing staff, Residents, and students. Measures patient's joint range of motion, length and girth of body parts, and vital signs to determine effects of specific treatments or to assist Physical Therapist to compile data for patient evaluations. Ability to work with other therapists, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers in coordinating patient care to optimize outcomes. Demonstrates good organizational, time management, and planning skills. Demonstrates good working knowledge of Prospective Payment Systems (PPS) and Minimum Data Set (MDS), Medicare Part B, and other applicable reimbursement systems. Adheres to all applicable federal, state and local standards of care and ethics and policies concerned with the practice of physical therapy. Attends meetings, seminars and participates in other activities to promote professional growth. Completes timely clinical documentation to include functional goal-setting, program and therapeutic approach. Completes billing/administrative documentation timely and accurately. Addresses complaints and resolves problems as directed by the Physical Therapist Qualifications: Associate’s Degree (A.A.) from an accredited college for physical therapist assistance. Computer literacy required.
