$20,000 Sign-On + $55,000 Retention Bonus* This position is eligible for a total bonus of $75,000: $20,000 Sign-On Bonus paid upon hire $55,000 Retention Bonus paid in structured installments every six (6) months following the date of hire Planned Parenthood Northern California (PPNorCal) is seeking a bilingual (Spanish) Clinician in our Redding Health Center. This role is full time, 32 hours per week. PPNorCal offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 100% employer-paid medical insurance for employees, 75% coverage for dependent children, 25% coverage for spouses/domestic partners, dental and vision insurance, employer-paid life and long-term disability coverage, earned time off (ETO) accrued based on hours worked, paid sick time accrued based on hours worked, a 403(b) retirement plan with up to 4% employer match after 12 months, and 10 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays each year. Work Schedule Monday: 11:30 PM – 8:00 PM Tuesday: 8:30 PM – 5:00 PM Wednesday: 8:30 PM – 5:00 PM Thursday: 8:30 PM – 5:00 PM Friday: OFF Saturday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (rotating) This position is represented by SEIU Local 1021. SUMMARY The Lead Advanced Practice Clinician will function as part of a health center management team to provide clinical care and leadership under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director in accordance with PPFA and PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. The Lead Clinician is the clinical leader of the health center by assisting in the medical supervision and oversight of the center staff. The Lead Clinician acts as primary medical quality assurance staff person at the designated health center. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. DIRECT PATIENT CARE Work in a health center providing comprehensive clinical sexual and reproductive health care services to all patients in accordance with evidence-based practice protocols. Utilize knowledge of and experience in patient care to: Obtain a basic health history and comprehensive gynecological (GYN) history. Perform a general physical exam, breast exam, GYN exam, and male - bodied genitourinary exam. Recognize common breast and GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. Recognize common non-GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. Provide preventive care, including screening for breast and cervical cancers. Obtain and interpret laboratory tests and results related to GYN visits. Perform and interpret transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds. Screen for contraindications and special conditions to contraceptive methods. Provide appropriate contraception to patients, including intrauterine contraceptives (IUCs) and implants. Test and treat STIs and other infectious conditions. Provide PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection. Provide care across the reproductive health lifespan, including basic infertility services and menopause management. For Pre-Natal positions, provide pre-natal care, ultrasound, and pregnancy management. Provide medication abortion, early pregnancy complication management, and other special services as appropriate by licensure. Assess and manage complications from surgical abortion, medication abortion, and vasectomy. For After-Hours care, triage patient calls, answer patient questions, and provide telephonic care for post-surgical abortion, medication abortion, colposcopy, and vasectomy. Provide care for patients of all gender identities, including gender-affirming care. Construct an accurate assessment and plan based on history, exam, and lab findings. Provide patient with general reproductive health maintenance, education, and counseling. Ensure complete and accurate medical documentation in EHR application and bill and code patient visits appropriately. Act as a medical resource for health center staff. Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity, with the goal of 3.0 visits per hour. Participate in research studies conducted in the health center. Exercise a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with patients and staff. Role-model s and provide s leadership of PPNorCal’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan and follows PPNorCal’s Honorable Standards. CLINICAL OVERSIGHT AND SUPERVISION Oversee the utilization of medication including prescription medications, controlled medications, emergency medications, cervical blocks, and, when necessary, the mixing of medications by licensed staff. Co-Lead, with the Center Director, the oversight of clinicians in your assigned health center. In collaboration with the Center Director, complete performance evaluations for clinicians assigned to your health center. Orient, onboard, train, and observe new and existing clinicians and RNs working in your health center, provide them with feedback as needed, report pertinent information to Clinician Trainers, Senior Lead Clinician, Senior Director of Clinical Practice, and Medical Director when appropriate. Participate in the peer review system. Conduct chart review for new clinicians as stated in the administrative protocols and standard operating procedures. Act as designated on-sight lab resource for day-to-day laboratory functions. Responsible for the training sign off and oversight of non-licensed and licensed staff on laboratory testing. Provide specified training sign-off, oversight, and performance evaluation feedback for non-licensed staff in your health center. LEADERSHIP Attend and participate in Provider and Lead Clinician meetings. Attend, contribute, and participate in your health center’s staff meetings. Present all clinical updates and information at health center staff meetings. The Lead Clinician is expected to present a minimum of one clinical update and/or topic in-service at every staff meeting. Disseminate changes to the PPNorCal Medical Standards & Guidelines to other clinicians and staff. Demonstrate interest and involvement in the mission and continued improvement of the PPNorCal affiliate. Oversee the ordering of all prescriptive medications, including all controlled medications. Oversee the disposal of expired hazardous pharmaceuticals, non-hazardous pharmaceuticals, and controlled medications. Serve as a resource in areas of expertise for the affiliate. Present in-service programs as requested by a member of the Clinical Operations team. Manage and resolve diverse perspectives by being sensitive to (or understanding) these differences and working to successfully address any related issues. Exhibit the behaviors set forth in the PPNorCal Honorable Standards at all times. QUALITY ASSURANCE Supervise the quality and risk improvement program in your clinic, including adherence to infection control and injury prevention. Review, count, and document, controlled medications with RN or other provider and sign the “Pharm-05 (F and M) Controlled Drug Disposition Record” a minimum of once a month. Participate in audits and accreditation. Review all clinic and health center assigned clinician audits. Along with the Center Director, assist in creating and implementing remediation plans when needed. Investigate and implement process for recalled medications and medical products. Maintain emergency cart and related documentation as specified in S&Gs. Review all Center logs for completion. Submit incident reports for the center. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES In conjunction with the Senior Director of Clinical Practice, Medical Director, and the Center Director, the Lead Clinician is responsible for supervising the other Advanced Practice Clinicians at the assigned health center and acting as a mentor to other clinicians. In addition, the Lead Clinician acts as part of the health center management team to provide supervision to other staff members. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Successful completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Clinician program. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge and experience with EHR & EPM systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications required. PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION (PHI) ACCESS REQUIREMENT As required for health care operations and patient treatment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Current California NP, PA, CNM, or other Advanced Practice Clinician license. Current California BRN Furnishing Number (if NP or CNM). National Provider Identifier (NPI) number. Current CPR BLS certificate DEA license preferred. Must possess reliable transportation or automobile transportation with a valid California driver’s license and insurance as determined by the requirements of each position. A reliable automobile is required for Float Clinician positions. OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS Two or more years’ experience in health care supervision or management including people management, program management, and fiscal management preferred. Willingness to learn management skills required. Leadership skills including vision, enthusiasm, common sense, and a commitment to patient centered care. Commitment to working with low-income and culturally diverse patients with an emphasis on health equity and empowerment. Serve patients promptly, competently, and in a friendly manner. Treat complaints as opportunities to improve service. Ability to understand and demonstrate in all interactions, the importance of high-quality care, including accurate charting and follow-up. Ability to maintain complete patient confidentiality at all times. Ability to be flexible and available to extend/change scheduled hours or location as needed to meet needs of the health center and our patients. Ability to work some evening hours and a minimum of one Saturday per month based on Health Center operating hours required. Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to assist team members at all times. Handle communication problems with other staff and managers directly, constructively, and with sensitivity. Maintain professional image through appropriate dress and manner. Treat other staff and patients with courtesy and respect at all times, under all circumstances. Ability to work in a busy environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously without compromising accuracy, attention to detail, and courtesy and respect to patients and staff. Willingness to promote Planned Parenthood services and mission to patients, friends, and others in the community. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Knowledge of additional languages desirable. Pay Range: The wage scale reflects the compensation that a new employee can expect to receive if offered employment. The wage scale for this position is $78.00 to $93.22 per hour, based on relevant professional years of experience.
