    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The Welder/Fabricator I is involved in the manufacture of pipe fixtures, sub-assemblies, manifolds, and decks used in irrigation pump stations, filters, and related systems.  The Welder/Fabricator works from engineering blueprints to layout and fabricates weldments from carbon and stainless-steel raw materials.  The Welder/Fabricator is also an integral part of the inspection process, ensuring dimensional tolerances, as well as weld quality.  The Welder/Fabricator takes direction from the Production Supervisor, as well as the Lead Welder, and provides input on process, tooling, and equipment improvements. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Read engineering blueprints, and take/read measurements to determine layout of pipes and devise welding plans</li>\n <li>Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements</li>\n <li>Assemble and install a variety of metal pipes and pipe fittings for both carbon steel and stainless projects</li>\n <li>Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets and hangers using hand tools</li>\n <li>Apply knowledge of metallurgy and geometry to determine required equipment, tools and welding methods</li>\n <li>Clean, prepare and install pipes with various fittings and weld joints according to standardized protocols</li>\n <li>Thread pipes using threading machines and assemble and install a variety of metal pipes and fittings using the threading method</li>\n <li>Set up components for welding according to specifications </li>\n <li>Actively participating within a team of manufacturing personnel, contributing to the goal of meeting sub-assembly component, & production deadlines</li>\n <li>Manage multiple assignments/projects simultaneously and in a timely manner</li>\n <li>Assist in developing manufacturing procedures and productivity reports as defined by the Production Manager</li>\n <li>Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded</li>\n <li>Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces</li>\n <li>Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)</li>\n <li>Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws</li>\n <li>Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>1-3+ years of MIG and/or TIG welding experience</li>\n <li>1+ year of plasma cutting experience</li>\n <li>Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints</li>\n <li>Proficiency in the use of hand tools and measurement equipment, including calipers, tape measures, and compound squares</li>\n <li>Proficiency in the use of power & pneumatic tools associated with the welding - jig saw, horizontal band saw, belt sander<strong>, </strong>drill, chop saw, grinder, drill press, angle grinder</li>\n <li>Must have good manual dexterity, sheet metal working skills are a bonus. </li>\n <li>Basic understanding of mechanical engineering concepts </li>\n <li>Computer literacy with functional knowledge of Windows, along with Microsoft Excel and Word </li>\n <li>Ability to multi-task and think \"Outside the Box\"</li>\n <li>Detail oriented</li>\n <li>High School diploma or equivalent (GED)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Professional Certification (AWS welding certificate will be a plus)</li>\n <li>Certificate from an accredited technical institution</li>\n <li>Pipe welding and/or pipe fitting experience</li>\n <li>Applied knowledge of industry safety practices and OSHA standards</li>\n <li>Familiarity with 5S Principles and a Safety Program background</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Rain Bird is an equal opportunity employer.</p>",
