Description

Overview Steel Dynamics, Inc. is the third-largest carbon steel producer in the U.S. and is one of the top steel recyclers in North America. SDI continues to push to be the industry leader and gold standard for corporate governance. The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia is expanding and adding positions for Maintenance Supervisor, who will manage an hourly unionized maintenance crew of approximately 15 millwrights and 8 electricians. We are seeking applicants who have a background as a millwright or electrician and who have either progressed in their career to management with a manufacturer OR have obtained a degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or electrical engineering technology. Responsibilities Performs root cause analysis and facilitates implementation. Develops standard work procedures for maintenance department, including preventive maintenance, repairs and setup of equipment, and trains others to perform these activities. Helps develop design and installation specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment. Participates in the development of criteria for evaluating equipment. Works with production team to analyze assets including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), remaining useful life, parameters that define operating condition, and reliability. Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel. Immediately advises site leadership of any significant maintenance problems causing or having the potential to cause delays or shutdowns of operations and works expediently toward resolving issues. Partners with the production leadership team to develop operating procedures that help sustain reliability and incorporate operator preventive maintenance activities. Evaluates, coaches, trains, and leads millwrights and electricians. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 3+ years of maintenance supervisory experience is preferred. Ability to develop training material and train others to perform precision maintenance. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet all required deadlines. Good understanding of safety and the desire to follow all established procedures. Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power-Point. Experience with maintenance in a Steel Mill or Melt Shop would be ideal. Hydraulic experience is preferred.
