    "description": "<p><span style=\"color: red; font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">RESPONSIBILITIES:<br><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Essential Functions –</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Teach assigned Hutchinson Community College<span style=\"color: black\"> biological sciences (general biology, microbiology, human anatomy and physiology) </span>courses. Teaching assignments  include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems, such as Zoom, Hybrid, Blended Online and Online. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assignments may include teaching at various high school locations and travel to McPherson and/or Newton Outreach locations. High school semesters may extend beyond the HutchCC academic calendar.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Plan and implement appropriate activities to supplement instruction.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Plan, revise, and update curricula as assigned by the department chairperson.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span>Maintain accurate records in the learning management system and other documents as requested by the department, including submitting grades <span style=\"color: black\">and course outcomes </span>in a timely manner.</span><br></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Access the learning management system regularly, respond to emails and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position in a timely manner.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">Collaborate and communicate effectively with Outreach and the department.</span><br></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span>Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.</span><br></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Secondary –</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the department chairperson or the Vice President of Academic Affairs, with input from the Outreach Team.<br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><br></span><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: red\">QUALIFICATIONS</span><span style=\"color: red\">:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">To instruct transfer courses, a Master’s degree is <span style=\"color: black\">required in biological sciences or related field, </span><span style=\"color: black\">or a Master’s degree in another field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in biological sciences.</span></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: black\">Experience teaching </span>college level courses preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to communicate professionally with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Physical requirements include: excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/indoor work environment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span>The qualifications listed are guidelines for selection purposes; alternative qualifications may be substituted if sufficient to perform the duties.</span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: red\">SALARY and STATUS</span><span style=\"color: red\">:</span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The salary is based on the part-time faculty compensation plan.
