Our prevention, intervention and treatment programs spread the message that there is hope and that substance misuse and addiction are preventable and treatable. We are hiring two (2) temporary grant funded positions that are instrumental to LRADAC’s expansion of warm handoff programs and recovery services for individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) in Richland County. In partnership with the Richland County Sheriff’s department, this position will ride with law enforcement agents to increase access and address critical service gaps into high need community settings. This dual-modality approach is designed to promote early intervention, streamline referrals, and support long-term recovery by meeting individuals where they are – physically and situationally. Under regular supervision of the Program Manager, staff will spend their time in the community to identify at-risk individuals, conduct brief assessments, provide referrals, and reduce barriers to care. Flexible scheduling may include weekends or variable hours, depending on law enforcement operations. Grant-funded position with a August 30, 2026 end date. Position continuance contingent upon grant renewal. Position Logistics Full-time, 40 hours a week requiring at least one day on the weekend. Paid lunches Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM The primary work environment for these positions is in-car with the Richland County Sheriff's Department Grant-funded position with a August 30, 2026 end date. Position continuance contingent upon grant renewal. Education, Experience & Licensure Requirements A master’s degree in human service field and experience in performing the essential duties of the position for substance use/misuse populations are required. Crisis management and de-escalation experience is highly preferred. Must have reliable transportation and valid SC driver's license. Must be able to clear background screening by both LRADAC and Richland County Sherrif’s department. Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and/or Licensure as an LPHA preferred. If not fully independently licensed as LPHA, must obtain ADC certification within three (3) years. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides case consultation and case management services to assure comprehensive quality care of a patient, including appropriate referrals to LRADAC and other community services. Provides crisis intervention counseling services including brief or single-session counseling and motivational interviewing, helping stabilize acute situations in the field. Conduct in-field assessments to at-risk individuals. Including safety planning and identification of co-occurring needs Maintain accurate records, logs, and progress notes in electronic systems, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to grant, 42-CFR Part 2 and HIPAA requirements. Conduct on-site urine drugs screens as part of initial engagement and follow-up support. Participates in regular clinical supervision. Adhere to law enforcement ride-along policies, including background checks and liability releases. Attend all required meetings and training sessions. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hand and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and will sit in a car for long periods of time. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Operate in high-stress or potentially volatile environments, requiring situational awareness and safety protocols. Ride along with sheriff’s deputies, responding to community calls and hotspots. Work is situational, mobile, and dynamic, with unscheduled client encounters. Respond to crisis or overdose scenes, sometimes co-responding with mobile crisis teams Please complete the online application to include all current and previous employment history and education.
