    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Take your career to its next level and put your engineering skills and passion for creating more livable communities into action by joining WATT Consulting Group’s collaborative multi-modal Transportation Team as our next Transportation Engineer-in-Training.</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Why This Role Matters:</span></p>\n<p>The Transportation Engineer-in-Training plays a key role in delivering practical, data-driven transportation solutions that shape how people and goods move through communities. By supporting the planning and analysis of multi-modal projects—ranging from outline and area plans to traffic impact assessments and parking studies—this role helps ensure decisions are informed, efficient, and aligned with client and community needs. Through hands-on involvement in technical analysis, modeling, and reporting, the EIT contributes to high-quality project delivery while building the foundational expertise that strengthens our transportation team’s capacity to solve complex mobility challenges.</p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you bring to WATT: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Post-secondary education in the field of Engineering (ideally with a transportation focus), and either a registered member or on a defined path to become an engineer-in-training member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).</li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.</li>\n<li>Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong analytical and organizational skills.</li>\n<li>Ability to work on several projects at one time for multiple project managers, as well as work independently.</li>\n<li>Transportation-related planning or engineering experience or familiarity with Alberta municipal development / planning processes would be considered an asset.</li>\n<li>Working knowledge of transportation related software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, SIDRA, Vistro/ Vissim, HCS and VISUM is considered an asset.</li>\n<li>Experience with key technical manuals applicable in AB would be considered an asset, including some or all of the following: TAC Geometric Design Guide, Calgary Design Guidelines for Subdivision Servicing, Calgary Complete Streets Manual, Albert Highway Geometric Design Guide, NACTO Design Guides, and MUTCDC.</li>\n<li>A valid AB Drivers’ License is required. Access to a personal vehicle would be considered an asset, as this position may also be asked to support project data collection in the field and/or site visits. Mileage expenses are reimbursed.</li>\n<li>Able to lift and carry traffic counting equipment (up to approximately 18kg / 40lbs), as well as work outside in all typical Alberta weather conditions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">What you will do at WATT:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Primarily supporting the development of transportation plans and analyses, including assisting with transportation/traffic impact assessments, network and intersection analysis using modelling software, multi-modal road safety analysis, parking studies, and preliminary assessment of pedestrian and signal warrants. As feasible, this role may also support active transportation planning and facility design, complete street design, transit planning, and functional road design.</li>\n<li>Assisting with preparation of written materials and graphics to support projects, including summary tables of analyses, figure preparation, graphs, maps, letters, memos, and reports.</li>\n<li>Field work including data collection and site visits to observe conditions and take photos / measurements. These may include manual intersection counts for periods of up to four hours at a time, as well as setting up, monitoring and taking down traffic count equipment, including road tubes, controllers and video cameras.</li>\n<li>Data entry and preliminary analysis/verification of collected transportation survey information in MS Excel, as well as viewing and tabulating information from intersection recorded video to be used in models and assessments.</li>\n<li>Assisting project managers with project coordination, logistics, meeting agendas/minutes, etc.</li>\n<li>Travel within southern Alberta region may be required.</li>\n<li>Other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>",
