Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities for this Position</h2>\n<p>General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Interaction Designer based in the Boston MA area.  This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Create graphical user interfaces that meet military standards (MIL-STD-1472), translating complex requirements into elegant, user-centered design solutions that are safe and effective</li>\n <li>Collaborate effectively with large software development teams, systems engineers, and stakeholders to improve designs and systems based on usability principles</li>\n <li>Interview subject matter experts and users; produce personas, workflows/journey maps, and other artifacts to inform design decisions</li>\n <li>Use interface prototyping tools to create low- to high-fidelity wireframes and clickable prototypes across all design phases</li>\n <li>Apply expertise in usability and interaction design principles across all aspects of visual and interface design</li>\n <li>Defend design decisions with compelling, research-based rationale and present findings through engaging reports and stakeholder presentations</li>\n <li>Design development-ready icons and graphics; identify creative alternatives when barriers arise</li>\n <li>Hybrid work environment with a minimum of 2-3 days per week on site; travel up to 20% to collaborate with clients, teams, and test sites</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What You Bring to the Table</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Expertise in designing for compliance with complex requirements, with a strong understanding of interaction, design, and usability principles</li>\n <li>Strong knowledge of design systems, optimizing human performance, and evaluating software designs</li>\n <li>Expertise with wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure RP, Figma, Sketch) and Adobe CC (especially Illustrator/Photoshop)</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and visual – including the ability to present findings and defend difficult decisions to teams and leadership in a constructive manner</li>\n <li>A portfolio demonstrating your design work, the challenges you've overcome, and your passion for making things better for users</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently, make informed decisions with minimal direction, accept constructive feedback, and thrive in a team environment</li>\n <li>Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What Sets You Apart</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in defense contractor roles or U.S. Navy programs</li>\n <li>Identifies and leverages AI as a creative and analytical partner – from accelerating prototyping cycles and conducting contextual research in novel domains, to intuitively knowing how to prompt, iterate, and collaborate with AI tools to push design work further</li>\n <li>Experience planning and conducting user research</li>\n <li>Experience with web, mobile, or desktop application development, including working knowledge of CSS and HTML</li>\n <li>Experience working in an Agile development environment</li>\n <li>Freehand drawing/sketching skills for rapid ideation</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Salary Note</h2>This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary.
