Description
Position Title: Therapist – Student Counseling Center (PT)
Department: Student Life
Reports To: Director of the Student Counseling Center
Classification: Part-Time, Exempt, 20-25 hrs/wk
Position Summary
The Part-Time Therapist provides confidential mental health services to students enrolled in the Undergraduate, Graduate, Continuing and Professional Studies programs, and the Neurodiversity Program. Responsibilities include individual counseling, crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, psychoeducational programming, referral coordination, and collaboration with campus partners to support student well-being, retention, and academic success. The therapist serves as a member of the Counseling Center team and supports the mission, values, and student-centered goals of Chestnut Hill College.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master's or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a closely related mental health field. Current, active Pennsylvania clinical license (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist) in good standing. Demonstrated experience providing counseling and crisis intervention services to adolescents and adults. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, treatment planning, and case management skills. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural, social, economic, religious, gender, sexual orientation, and ability backgrounds. Knowledge of ethical standards, legal requirements, and best practices in mental health service delivery. Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the College’s Mission and Core Values, including a shared dedication to inclusive, mission-driven education that supports the development of the whole person. Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a college or university counseling center. Experience working with neurodivergent populations and students with disabilities. Experience facilitating psychoeducational groups and outreach programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Conduct intake assessments, psychosocial evaluations, risk assessments, and treatment planning. Provide short-term individual counseling and psychotherapy to students presenting with a wide range of personal, emotional, academic, and mental health concerns. Deliver crisis intervention services and assess risk related to suicide, self-harm, violence, and other psychological emergencies. Develop and facilitate counseling groups, workshops, and support programs based on identified student needs, when needed. Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries and provide services in accordance with professional ethical standards and applicable laws. Consultation and Referral
Consult with faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and family members, as appropriate and consistent with confidentiality requirements, regarding student mental health concerns. Collaborate with campus departments to promote student wellness and success. Provide referrals and coordinate care with community-based mental health providers, hospitals, and other treatment resources when appropriate. Assist students in accessing ongoing or specialized mental health services beyond the scope of the Counseling Center.
Outreach and Education
Develop and present psychoeducational programs, workshops, and training sessions for students, faculty, and staff on topics related to mental health, wellness, resilience, and student development. Participate in campus-wide wellness initiatives and prevention programming. Support efforts to reduce stigma associated with mental health treatment and increase awareness of Counseling Center services.
Neurodiversity Program Support
Provide counseling and mental health support services to students participating in the Neurodiversity Program. Consult and collaborate with faculty, staff, family members, and program personnel to support student success and well-being. Assist in identifying and addressing the unique social, emotional, and adjustment needs of neurodivergent students.
Documentation and Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical records in the Counseling Center's electronic record system, including Titanium Schedule or its successor platform. Complete all required documentation, treatment notes, assessments, referrals, and reports in accordance with Counseling Center policies and professional standards. Participate in clinical supervision, case consultation, and staff meetings as required. Assist with departmental initiatives, special projects, program assessment, and outcome evaluation activities. Maintain current licensure and complete required continuing education activities.
College and Department Engagement
Attend Counseling Center, Student Life, and College meetings as requested. Participate in designated campus events, including Orientation, Open House, Griffin Days, and other student engagement activities, as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director.
Work Schedule and Availability
This position requires flexibility to meet student and departmental needs. Occasional evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities may be required, including participation in crisis response efforts as designated by the Director of the Counseling Center.
