Job Summary Ultrasound (US) Technologist / Medical Instrument Technician Location: VA Portland Health Care System3710 SW U.S. Veterans Hospital RoadPortland, OR 97239 Secondary Location: VA Portland Health Care System – Vancouver Campus1601 E. Fourth Plain BlvdVancouver, WA 98661 Compensation : Starting at 60.00/hr plus 5.09 for Health and Wellness Hours : Varing hours based on location but both days and nights will be available Overview The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The technologist operates ultrasound equipment, ensures image quality, and communicates results to radiologists and physicians. Primary Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Perform routine and complex ultrasound examinations including: Abdomen Liver Renal Gynecological imaging Small parts scanning. Ensure image quality and proper labeling prior to PACS transmission. Maintain patient documentation and exam records. Schedule and prioritize ultrasound examinations. Coordinate with radiologists for nonstandard exams. Communicate urgent findings to radiologists or physicians. Maintain compliance with radiation and safety protocols. Verify patient identity and explain procedures to patients. Provide emergency or on-call ultrasound services when required. Work independently while reporting issues to the Chief Technologist. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Registered with ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) . Must hold two or more sonography certifications (e.g., RVT, OB/GYN, MSK). Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Minimum 3 years hospital ultrasound experience in the U.S. . Must have worked in a hospital setting within the last six months . Professional liability insurance required. Ability to work at least six months after start date . .
